Have you thought about taking your most capable birds around the island and showing aerial tours of the (legally accessible) scenic areas? Would be great to see some of the infamous Highway to Hana or various beaches or the mountains.

Hello Dustin, I've had a Parrot DISCO for a couple of years now and reckon it one of the best planes going. I'm not brave enough to do the 4G Mod, but have made a few alterations to my DISCO: Fitted a 'Low Voltage Warning Buzzer' which fits in the battery compartment easily and if set to high voltage makes a continuous alarm warning that might keep birds away and handy when landing for bystanders. Fitted a small round rubber 'bumper' near the tail, handy if landing on a hard surface. Fitted a stream-lined red strobe near front underside. Thanks for the great Video.

Well, as a guy who has 'hand launched' RC Planes from 1/2A to .60 size, using everything from Single channel, Galloping Ghost, Reeds, & Proportional radio equipment, I'd say you need some hand launch practice. Rule #1 .. Always launch into the wind .. dead into the wind. After you got it up in the air, it did fly very well, just as the Disco did. The 4G system seems to be working really well, and that battery will allow you to do some epic flights in the future, I'm sure. Hope to see more of this one in the future. Mahalo!

Amazing video quality and I am amazed at the control link. I hadn't known the Disco worked on the 4G system. I have heard of video link over wifi and wireless phone networks but didn't know it had RC control too. I have a AtomRC Dolphin with a Matek F405-wse flight controller and run it on Inav. I have simple 5.8ghz video but now I'm seriously thinking I have to try the Parot CHUCK setup. You literally can fly to anywhere as long as you have a 4G network. I'm guessing there'll be a 5G system? Amazing project man. It's about as good as it gets right there.

I'd love something like this, just can't really justify the cost right now. Can you program waypoints on the fly? like drop pins and tell it to fly them in order? Can you give it a point to focus track with the camera? It'd be amazing if you could tell it to track a single object or area point as you orbit.
@DustinDunnill3 жыл бұрын

Yet another crash that reminds me of my own Parrot Disco crash. Tried to launch it from my right side holding it with the right hand to its left wing. It touched my shoulder while I was tossing it and pretty much hit the field face first. Survived with minor scuffing on the camera lens. Polished it out with some good ol' spittle. ;) The moral of the story: if you are launching with the right hand hold the right wing, and always throw it a little bit upwards, not just straight.

I suggest that you get an aircraft sectional chart.. and use it instead of a google map... because that will give you continuous ground elevation, as well as show various kinds of airspace, hazards like towers, and a host of other information any pilot needs. Basically they are topo maps with both roads, and airways... and a little basic pilot training wouldn't hurt.. go up = climb go down = descend... enjoy your videos as always.
