Thank you for a good detail review on this machine as there are many advantages to have a canister vacuum. After reading a lot of customer reviews on the Dyson cordless stick vacuum I saw a lot of people who are elderly, with arthritis, tennis/golf elbow or some form of disabilities that are not able to handle the weight of the unit. I would hope Dyson is listening and would considering upgrade the current Big Ball unit with a cordless model with interchangeable battery like the Outsize and the ability to carry all the attachment. Should not be too hard to put the V11 Outsize body into the Big Ball body (maybe with a 22 cyclone design to get the same 250 air watt power) while intergrading battery packs with protective rubber padding under the unit or into the wheels to hold the unit down to prevent tipping. My wife often go back to our good old 17 years old Miele Ambiente S334i canister vacuum with HEPA filter (I do not believe it is a "air sealed" unit) just because the wand is much lighter to operate (I do not believe it does a better vacuuming job than the V11) while she has the options to change to any attachment she needs (like carrying all options in her purse! Are you in ladies?!!!). She would often mention she prefer the weight of the V8 we previously owned while using the V11 even though the accessory clip is appreciated. Personally I never see the advantage of a upright vacuum for single or multi level home especially now the cordless stick is able to do the same and better job at much lighter weight; however, I do see the need for a air sealed HEPA filtration cordless canister models now as most family members are welling to purchase one for their elderly parent who enjoying their independent living life style to keep the active and healthy at the same time.

Need Dyson to make updated canister vacuum that is cordless and holds wayyyy more. I have a mini husky so dog hair gets everywhere. I have to empty out the regular cordless vacuums every 5 seconds and it’s heavy to hold. They need to upgrade this canister one to be cordless, and holds more. =)
@ModernCastle

That would be pretty cool! Though it does seem like Dyson is done building canister vacuums. They haven't released a new one in many years.

Thank you Derek. I have the same Dyson vacuum cleaner as used in your demonstration video. However the cleaning head is different and it doesn't suck/perform well. It is a Dyson Pnuematic. Could I/should I change it to the one you are using in the video and will it improve the performance? Regards Neil T.

@@ModernCastle it is air driven
@stevejones1972
@stevejones1972 5 жыл бұрын
With these, the idea is you plug the hose directly into the articulating handle, and then plug the handle into the wand, so you can vacuum floors holding the handle, rather than just plugging the hose straight into the wand as you did in the video. I have one of these myself, in addition to my other collection, and I do find it a bit cumbersome to lug around carpets, plus the air driven main head is rather noisy in operation. The emptying system is good though, much like that of the V8 and V10 cordless machines, employing a rubber scraper ring that scrapes the shroud as you tip out the bin. They are not bad machines, but I think that uprights such as the Ball Animal 2 and light Ball are better if you have lots of carpets.

Just don't break any parts on the grey plastic end especially where the sidewheel on the ball break the threaded stud that holds the wheel and bearing in that fibre composite plastic can not be glued or drilled. It will chip away and crack. The outer polished coating adds to its structural integrity. If that ever gets cracked or broken the whole upper motor cover needs to be replaced. The old cover can't be fixed or modified

Hello! In your opinion, which is better, this product or V10? I am considering this two products. Although V10 seems has a better performance, the reviews for V10 say it has a really bad battery. Thanks!
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 жыл бұрын
V10, no question. I would only suggest the Big Ball Canister if you just absolutely LOVE canister vacuums. For most, the cordless convenience of the V10 is far better. As far as the V10 having a bad battery, that is a shock to me. V10 has one of the best batteries of any cordless vacuum. It runs for up to an hour and will last the life of the vacuum.

I had a Dyson upright for years before I bought this and I hate it! I never use this because the powerhead doesn't roll smoothly along the carpet, your constantly pushing too hard and it becomes a workout. My previous Dyson is now over 10yrs old and still works so I use it all the time. I also have the DC35 cordless and i'm wondering if going with something like the V11 would work for me?

So- we had a shark canister and it finally died. they don't make them anymore and we have bought 2 sharks in the last couple months that both broke pretty soon after purchase. cheap plastic. this dyson looks decent, but no lights on the head, and it doesn't seem to be GREAT. Is there a lighter good quality shark with lights, or is there a canister that's a good vacuum and has lights on the head? I don't want to spend more than the dyson is, and 300 ish would be nice but quality seems to be an issue. I could use some direction! thanks

Does the cleaning head brush reduce the suction effect on carpets ? My mother is struggling to clean capert with the penumatic head and we were wondering to try and buy the brush head.
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 жыл бұрын
The suction power is going to be the same, but the cleaning power is going to be improved. In almost all cases, a brushroll that agitates the carpets will pull up more dust and debris from deeper within the carpet, that the suction can then remove. Straight suction vacuums that don't utilize a brushroll are typically better on hard surfaces and low pile carpets.
@mccready79

@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 жыл бұрын
@@mccready79 Yes, it will generate less of the "stuck" effect. Vacuums without the brushroll have a higher tendency to suction down without releasing any air flow, which creates that stuck feel. The quality of this hover is very poor, it feels cheap, looks cheap and it performs badly. The bottom part of the dust container that opens to empty it is not sealed enough, dust gets out through the seal. I have an older model witch I wanted to replace , but after a few months of using this 1 I am back on using the old 1.

I would not recommend dyson vacuums any more. I purchased it in end of May 2021, it is broken July 2021. Customer service is not helping at all. Nope.

Why is the guy bending over to use the floor wand - the handle is way too short! It's garbage
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 3 жыл бұрын
After the fact we found out we had the wand configured incorrectly, so it does allow you to more fully stand up while cleaning if you've got it configured properly.

Yeah, certainly shorter than 6'. It wasn't terribly comfortable to use for long periods of time as a taller person.

Why are we vacuuming cereal 🥣
@ModernCastle

Because it's easy to see, easy to measure, and represents a wide range of large form-factor debris that a person might want to clean up.

@@ModernCastle i was picking on you sorry 🤪 in sure you’re familiar with Lisa From mobile tech reviews. In one of her reviews of the dyson V11 she called out everyone that has ever reviewed a vacuum and sucked up Cheerios and I quote “ A popular test with a Vacuum reviews is sucking up Cheerios. I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️ about you I tend not to suck up Cheerios but I don’t know” whenever I see Cheerios being sucked up I laugh
