Early Access is Not an Excuse So Stop Defending It

If I bought Craftopia I probably would be upset that they didn't finish it. Seems like a difficult choice for the Palworld developers though. I'd say Palworld is their future and they absolutely need to work on making it the best game they can and diverting resources to finish Craftopia doesn't seem realistic. Them either refunding it or giving them free copies of Palworld is the best answer I think, and would be an unheard of gesture in this industry, earning them a lot of props. I do see the dilemma of early access games. I generally avoid them when possible due to being burned several times. I took a risk on Grounded and they thankfully finished that game and my friends and I loved it. I'm taking another risk with Palworld because I felt the concept was great. Hoping they do the right thing and finish this fantastic concept.

I think there has become little difference these days between Early Access and Crowd Funding! I don't mind paying some money for an unfinished game (even though developers used to have to pay for their testers!) but it really grinds my gears when they start adding what is clearly 'additional content' instead of just fixing the parts they already released! It just all too often seems that 'Early Access' has become an excuse for a game being incomplete and buggy!

The person who commented that the money from Craftopia should go into Palworld is everything that is wrong with EA games. People with smoothbrains that make excuses for why devs don't need to finish gams and keep giving them money is why games never get finished. It's gotten so bad that even AAA game companies follow the policy of releasing half finished games knowing that idiots who gave them money will defend their purchases to no end.

Literally defending a Ponzi scheme model. Release EA game - make more money than you used - release 2nd EA game - make more money than you used - don't finish either -profit.

Gamers focussing on the numbers of sales as the metric that makes a game good or successful is a publishers wet dream. I tend to avoid multiplayer bias games as a rule, especially early access ones since more often than not after two weeks the player numbers plummet as the mob follow streamers to the next game and development falters because the game is too reliant on other players to create gameplay. Very much on the fence about nightingale Prefer the GOG tag of indev for the system, moreso now companies are trying to coax fomo money out of idiots by the 3day "early access" in a similar way they hijacked the term beta for the hype building weekends where nothing changes.

Early Access is a double edged sword. On one hand it does give many smaller developers a chance to make a game they might not have the ability to make under normal conditions. On the other hand by the time your game is done most interest in the game is already burned through and the 1.0 release is a smaller event than a single release would have been. I gave up early access for the most part because when the game finally released I didn’t care much, or was already bored with the game. Many of my favorite games came from early access so I can’t say it’s not effective at times but it also part of the problem with modern gaming. Definitely a catch 22 situation

Palworld is fine game yes is it good ... no it's very mid (actually it's trash)does it have potential to be freaking amazing yes, is it amazing now no, is it the best survival game no, why is it popular "couz pokaman wiht gUnzU mAn"
