Excellent knot. Triple or quadruple surgeons knot. Excellent knot for fly fishing leader to tippet and very strong and simple for joining braid to mono or fluorocarbon leader. Been using this knot for almost 60 years.

I do this with 5 twists, and I have had so many good fish on the line, including a tarpon recently and the knot held with ease. It's good and doesn't hang in the eyelets.

As many mentioned this is the surgeons knot. I wouldn't use it for mahi or wahoo but I've caught some nice bull reds off of it and have never had an issue. The only negative is you cannot tie it with hooks or crank baits at the other end.

I have used this surgeon's knot before. The down side is that it is a bit of an offset and not an in-line knot and it tends to hang up in the rod eye. So I would recommend shortening your leader to keep the knot out of the rod. Since it is so easy to tie, you can always replace the leader in short order should it become too short from re- tying baits. Other than that, I doubt if it's an 80-90% knot, but still a good choice.

Triple surgeon knot. Quickest simplest knot ever. Used it for last 50 years. With the new braid I go 5 times. It’s just 5 granny knots pulled through all the way.

Good video and a worthy knot that I've been using for over 70 decades. It's a Surgeon's knot, pain and simple. (K)Not the absolute best of knots, but more than good enuf to get the job done super quick and super simple. For spinners I use it for 15# main line braid to a 30' 25# mono shocker, and 30# main line braid to a 30' 80# mono shocker. For revolvers I'll use a uni-to-uni for 30# braid braid backing to 25# mono top shot main line, with a uni-to-overhand for the 30' of 80# mono shocker. After all of these knots have been tied, using water to ease the knots tightly closed, I let the water evaporate and add a tiny drop of quality hobby shop water thin CYA ("super glue") to absolutely insure any knot won't come undone or break untimely.

I agree with how easy this knot is, my previous go to knot was a double uni, but it's not an easy knot to tie on the bank. I do six wraps for a seriously strong fluorocarbon to braid connection

Haha. Secrets out. Have used this with 4 turns for years. I use flouro and braid. Have caught tarpon, big jacks, everything on this. Use abt a 30” leader. I never wind the knot through the guides so size of knot doesn’t matter.

That knot is a triple (3 turn) surgeon's knot. It's been used for generations for fly fishing, building leaders, etc. It ranks, for light lines, below the uni to uni in strength. It works, but I think the proper name should be used.

Double uni is stronger. But if you are tying 30# braid to a 20# flourocarbon and fishing for speckled trout, a 50% knot is plenty. You are going to set your drag way below that for specs anyway. So the ease of the knot, especially when sitting in a kayak makes it a viable choice imo. If you are using 15# braid, I would go with something else.
