I made these tonight. I measured precisely but the 3/4 cup of butter seemed like so much butter that I wondered if it was 3/4 of a stick. haha At any rate, 3/4 is under two sticks. I had mine soft because it was sitting at room temp but for some reason it was too much butter. So I added half more of each dry ingredient measurement. That really made a huge improvement and they turned out perfect. Thank you so much for this recipe.

Hi chef, I watched yr video yesterday and decided to try it today. They were lovely with just a minor problem. It felt powdery wen I eat it, but it tasted great. I tried making butter cookies b4, but the recipe I followed gave a soft, almost runny mixture. Didn't go well at all. Wen making it today I was so afraid they would come out tasting as bad or soft and mushy as the 1s I did b4. But it came out great, I literally pat myself on the back for doing well. Thank you! Very good recipe. Ill add some lemon zest next time. The butter we get here (in India) has such a high fat content that I feel really full after a couple of bars (we made thin bars not cookies). Definitely could use a flavor like lemon zest. But other than that, this was an awesome recipe. Thank you for taking the time!

I like when the poster (you in this case) explains the role of each ingredient, and answers what s/he thinks the viewers are asking in their minds :) For example, I was thinking about skipping adding the corn starch, then your explanation came to change my mind :) BTW, can we add egg(s) (probably the egg-yolk(s) alone without the egg-white) to them? I think it may add shininess and probably more softness, no?

Hi Daphne, I'd use a 1/4 cup of cocoa powder maximum. You may even wish to use 1/8th to start. Then look at the mixture, and gauge it from there. To keep the recipe the same, you will remove some of the corn starch. You want the ratios to stay the same in the recipe so the cookie dough does not become too dry.

Corn flour in North America is yellow and very different. Do *not* use it if it is yellow. What colour is your corn flour, because in some areas of the world, corn flour = corn starch. It's very confusing. They are a great cookie, and yes you are right, most will make these during the Christmas holiday season, but why not make them whenever you wish, a great cookie can be eaten year round. Don't tell anyone, but I do make these at other times of the year too :-) By far, my fav type of cookie.

This depends on where you live in the world. If you are in North America, they are very different things. Corn starch is *white* corn flour is *yellow*

Hi there, no if you decrease the sugar you will want to decrease the flour. The recipe ingredient ratios must stay the same. So if you wish to make a smaller recipe, 1/2 the full recipe ( the means all ingredients would be reduced by 50% ) to keep the recipe as I made it. I hope this helps.
