I tried this last night. I have to say that, glad I found your recipe when I suddenly thought of baking rich fruit cake without having to spend time in the traditional way of soaking fruits etc. This recipe has no dramas n delivered same results. I ran out of honey and replaced it with fruit jam. The sugar level is just nice. This recipe is the only fruit cake recipe which I will stick to. Thank you from 🇲🇾

Such an easy and delicious recipe. Thank you and thanks for responding to a post where you said it was okay to substitute water with rum. The mix cooled a bit more so that the batter was a bit too thick. I thinned it with rum and then poured a little rum on the baked cake. Oh la la… the aroma when baking was heavenly. The cake tasted even better in a couple of days. Thanks again.

I wish that I'd seen this recipe before spending hours making mine. I soaked my fruit in brandy for 2 days then made the cake the traditional English way. I'm going to try this way in future. Mine has finished cooking and it hardly rose. I'm definitely going to try your recipe.
