Hey there Mrs. Jan! I am a new follower/subscriber to your videos. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about you! I’m from Alabama, currently living just south of Nashville for the last year so, I was immediately drawn to your southern charm. You are so creative in your budget friendly meal ideas, which is priceless! I also enjoy your menu ideas are sometimes out of the box/can so to speak, & not everything has to be strictly homemade. Let’s not forget your sweet soothing voice....it reminds me of my mama! I did not grow up learning to cook from my mama or even my grandmothers. All three of those precious women passed away when I was a child & my mama passed when I was a teenager. My mama always worked full time so she very rarely would cook thru the week & on the weekends, I was always outside playing. With all that being said, I never had an interest in cooking, even when I had my two boys. I also have always worked full time outside of the home, so booking thru the week was very limited to easy meals. I wish you would have been posting videos about 10-12 years ago when my boys were smaller (they are 19 & 15 now). You have sparked an interest in me to cook & I hate cooking!! lol! I just wanted to say HI & THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge, creativity & even your family with ‘US’! You are such a peach & I’m so thankful I found your videos!!! 😊

You know, Jan, your recipes bring back so many memories from my childhood. I lived with my grandmother and every morning (in San Francisco) she would make biscuits, rolls, and bread plus a big tin coffee pot of strong brewed coffee. I remember the smell of the coffee and bread so vividly, and I shed a happy tear watching you make rolls by hand (she didn't have a mixer though). I always got to knead a little for her. Viewers, remember to let your children and grandchildren cook with you. I am 82 and I've never forgotten my cooking hours with grandma. -- The Doctor

I have a great pie recipe for you which all my friends keep asking me to make and bring to their get togethers. Its call "Johnny Cash mothers pineapple pie." You will need: 1 1/2 cups of sugar (I use 1 cup cause I don't like super sweet things.) 1/2 cup butter softened 1 cup crushed pineapple (unsweetened), slightly drained. 3 tablespoons of flour. 2 eggs (you may also add 1/4 cup of coconut to the filling if you like..i like.) 1 pre made pie crust Heat oven to 350 degrees. Open pie crust and place into pie pan. beat all ingredients together ,then pour into pie shell and bake for 50 minutes until brown on top and set.

In a stand mixer add room temperature 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, and 1 cup sugar. Stir it around until the sugar is good and dissolved. Add one packet or 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast. Let sit until yeast bubbles and foams. Add 1 teaspoon salt. Add one egg and about 1/3 cup soft butter. Go ahead and mix all that up. With mixer on, add 3 1/2 cups bread flour (or more until the dough pulls away from the bottom). Scraping the sides of the bowl as it mixes. Remove dough from hook and knead the dough on a floured surface. Pushing the palm of your hand into the dough and turning it over and over. Put it back in the mixer bowl and cover with a towel. Put it in a warm place for 45 minutes to rise. Punch it down. Squeeze off dough balls and put them on a baking sheet. Lightly cover with cheesecloth or a very light cloth and let rise for about 10 minutes more in a warm place. Brush with melted butter. Bake at 350f for 15-20 minutes Thank you Jan for showing us how to make this! ❤️👍🏼

To make it easier for yourself... I make these also... But instead of kneading on the counter...I let the mixer do the work for me... I put it on # 2 or 3 & let it run w/ the dough hook about 5-7 min... You will see a big difference in the texture when baking... But I must say... They sure had my mouth watering for some... they look really good... !
