I just wanted to tell you that I made these yesterday. Yes, on Thanksgiving, no practice time. I had your amazing tutorial playing, I followed every step as you patiently talked me through it. These were a hit. All my kids took home a baggie of them. I grew up in a small family. No grandparents, no aunts or uncles, no cousins. Both my parents have passed. I have maybe 5 recipes from my mother and my dad's mom. So, I do a recipe search on line for tips. I came across you and felt like God sent me a 'mother-grandmother' . Thank you for your loving approach to cooking!! You should teach a cooking class!! I hope your table was surrounded by family and friends.

I just found this channel and this recipe look great 👍. I just can't understand why there are so many dislikes 👎! She is well spoken, she explains everything she does before and while she does each step. There is no unnecessary time, as she has edited out the waiting times, but tells you how long each wait was. She wears gloves while preparing these rolls, and even uses a fork to pull 2 out of the pan to put on a plate to show to texture of the rolls. These look great, and I will definately be giving these a try! Thank you so much for this wonderful, detailed tutorial on how to make your dinner rolls! Many blessings to you and your family! 🙂💜

What's to dislike? They are dinner rolls... 😋. Maybe the ones disliking this don't eat bread. Maybe they doing keto or something and trying to syke themselves out by disliking this video to truck their minds that bread and rolls taste awful. 😂

So. My Mom in Law, God rest her sweet soul. Gave me a recipe about 30yrs ago for Refrigerator rolls. They were nice n fluffy like yours but of course made totally different! So, hers not only favored these but, we're a bit sweeter. Is there some way to make these a bit sweeter? Or do you have another recipe that is a bit sweeter?! I am trying hard to find something similar because my recipe burned in our house fire and I totally forgot how to make em. Also, my mixer died. Is there another way to mix em without it? Thanks so much. And, thank you for sharing this recipe my family would Love!!!

Can't wait for that later tonight. Thanks again for the great recipe tutorial!

This is to Marilyn and to DeAnn, as well to others who are connecting this recipe from older generations. Marilyn, God bless you and thank you for sharing your story. I lost my Granny decades ago, she's with me in my heart and thoughts. I shed more than a few tears in thinking of both of our Grandmothers. On reading this from you, I realized how fortunate it was for you to find this folded up and tucked away in her Bible. God bless Momma Chris for her excellent skills, sharing the recipe and giving of herself in step by step detailed instructions. I kept thinking of the importance of passing this on to all of your and your Grandmother's family and loved ones. Due to much used recipes getting soiled, I started redoing mine years back on large sized index cards and then I used my 'Go-To' for book coverings, a good high quality Contact Paper. ( This is my 'Go-To' one that I love: ) Con-Tact Brand Creative Covering Self-Adhesive Semi-Transparent Privacy Film Protective Vinyl and Shelf Liner, 18" x 60', Clear Matte ). If a spill, it's wiped away clean, looking as it did on the first day! Sorry this is already way long. Now it will be a book! I thought take your Grandmother's folded up paper, exactly as it was penned! Make copies of it on typing paper, allowing for a decent margin around it. Then cover each one with the Con-Tact paper. Oh! Do cut the Con-Tact paper at double the size needed, clip off corners, creasing the edges and folding to the center of the backside, covering it all. This will give it substance, but more importantly, it will be waterproof and lasting! In the upper left corner, use a hole punch on it. Then run a length of ribbon through it and knot the end. Thin ribbon of red or green, or a ribbon of each would be great, knotting it as one. Give this to be as a Christmas Tree Ornament to hang. It would be nice on a gift, along side the bow and name tag. It's a yearly sentimental memory, reminder of holidays long past, the generations of love and the making of great homemade, fresh, hot dinner rolls! Obviously, you would share this recipe link for the real bakers, those wanting to carry it forward, making it their own well used recipe.

@@deannwalker4400 DeAnn, my heart goes out to you. My Father had this for many years. It is heart breaking. This February will be two years since his crossing over. I seriously believe we were meant to find this particular recipe from Chris. I had read Marilyn's comment and followed reading your own. Cherish all, hold tightly to the past and be accepting of everyday, as it comes.

Not sure if you will see this, this is an older video but I just come across your channel and saw these last night, 11/15/23 and did a pan to try and hopefully be good for next week, and thank you for this, they were awesome. This is a perfect recipe. My Thanksgiving table will be better with these rolls.

Thank you Chris I have been looking for this recipe for years. I used to cook for a bunch of Range cowboys when I was in my 20s and made these rolls every day. After years of not making them I forgot the recipe. I used to have a starter I got ready the day before in a Mason jar and it sat on the counter for the next day. I would use like 3/4 of the starter and add to it when I was cleaning up the kitchen before I went home. Boy oh boy one day I couldn't make rolls and they got butter and bread with their food. I never heard grown men cry so much about not getting their hot rolls. I knew the starter and the hot roll recipe in my head and Never ever wrote it down. How stupid of me to not write it down. I thought I'd never forget it. But even after 20 years I forgot. Now it's been 40 years and until today watching your video I believe your recipe will be the closest. Thank you again. I want to make them for my kids and grandkids at Christmas. 🎄 I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅 and a Happy New Year of good health and happiness. 💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏🙏

I'm a nurse who used to bake yeast bread but my job became more and more demanding, so I stopped because I just didn't have the time. After all of these years I'm now retired and couldn't wait to begin making quality breads again! I found your recipe and I'm going to give it a whirl today! I used to teach nursing....and I complement you. You are a great teacher! I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve. I too love to cook good food for friends and family! Thank you!

I have one recipe of my mother. She wasn't very good at sharing. In fact I learned the basics of cooking at school. Otherwise I would never have been able to boil water. She never knew I took classes in cooking, baking and sewing. My first class was in elementary school. We made cookies of course. Our teacher said our team cookies tasted, looked and were nice textured and got top points toward our grade. Took a few home. My mother kind of laugh and said you call these cookies. My brother grab one and said they tasted good and grab the rest. I always remembered that. After that I never took anything home. I definitely never used her kitchen. Her way of teaching was to tell you get a little bit of this and a little bit of that without really letting you watch. So why bother. She had no idea I could sew til I asked my father for a sewing machine. Our school was selling theirs real cheap at the end of the year. So my dad said yes. By then I had been sewing about three years. But anything I made for myself like a skirt or blouse I said my friend's gave me. Just easier that way I figured.

UPDATE: 👋🏽Hey @chriscook4u2! YASSSS! Everything you said and more!❤️ As mentioned, I made 1 loaf and about 18 rolls with the doubled recipe. Even with my recipe modifications, my loaf stayed soft throughout the week - i kept it out on my kitchen counter in a plastic loaf container. The rolls i froze, once thawed, they remained soft and flavorful. Better than store-bought because the only preservatives are salt and sugar. Thanks for sharing this.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I just found you this past week, and boy was I missing out. I made these dinner rolls for Sunday dinner, they were perfect and delicious. Easier than I thought. Of course I had YOU on my tablet in the kitchen with me. I followed you step by step. You really explain everything. I was afraid to handle the yeast, but you made it easy. I would recommend this recipe to any one . I am a senior (70), and used my kitchen aid dough hook. I will try them again for Thanksgiving. At the end I brushed them with melted butter and on half of the rolls I sprinkled Italian seasoning. Yum! You are my new Best friend, Thanks again ! :)

Growing up in rural Alabama the cafeteria's head cook made these rolls everyday. Except for Friday, we had hamburgers that day. Something poor kids didn't get much of. But those rolls were wonderful and my sisters and I are so happy you shared this recipe because we always wondered how Miss May made those rolls. Bless you!!!!!
