I'm 38 years old, I had my HBA1C diagnosed as 8.3 back in November 2021 and now in April 2022 it has come down to 6.4.. I could reduce 10 kgs over this period as well..i was having 89kg and now im just 79kgs..still trying to reduce 9 more kgs to be in the BMI range...i didn't take any medicines, I had my BP marked as 150/100 ( now in April 2022 it's reduced to 110/ 70) and was having symptoms cos of diabetis and BP..so what I did is pure diet control and exercise from that point onwards..What I would like to suggest to those who are diagnosed with diabetes and BP to slowly reduce rice from your diet and exclude it completely if possible, reduce salt, limit fried foods avoid if possible, include Raagi, multi grains, cut sugar completely, add more fruits and vegetables, avoid milk tea of coffee if possible, try to drink Fenugreek ( boil Fenugreek 15 mg in 1 cup water and drink on daily basis)..do atleast 30 minutes work out in the morning try to do HIIT exercise if possible, walk for 30 minutes in the evening..sleep well - at least 7 to 8 hours( it's very imp), let me tell you despite doing all these you may not see the result in the first month but rest assured u will see and experience it after 2 months or so...All the best👍 🙂.

@@ishwariyap.r.7302 What I did is, i slowly cut sugary items when I knew I have diabetes .switched to raagi based food, and continued to eat it for 3 times a day..it can be ragi dosa, ragi chapati, raagi puttu etc..u can include chappti in between..eat less quantity is key...also every morning I used to drink Fenugreek(15gm in two glass) immersed water..before break fast, used to do 30 minutes high intensity work out,..in the evening used to walk for 30 minutes..i cut high carb rich snacks and switched to nuts( ground nut, walnut, badam etc)..used to drink green tea, completely avoided the milk tea....the main mantra is to remove rice from ur diet if possible..tht will do magic for sure...go for chapti and remember reduce the quantity...when you start losing weight, u will feel the difference in ur blood sugar count..also need to make sure we are hydrated properly...try to avoid cofee and tea for a while..and go for plain boiled water..try to consume one gooseberry per day...atleast for a month...include more vegetables ..also try to be vegetarian for a month at least..need to sleep early and sleep for more than 7 hours( this itself can reduce the sugar level)... My sugar levels where over 200 at some points now fasting sugar is now between 90 to 100 and postpandrial sugar level used to be under 130...am sure u can reduce ur sugar level too..eat well, sleep well and excercise...rest assured u can reverse ur diabetes too.. 👍

@@aneeshkrishnan231 thank u so much bro am 33 years old mother of two kids totally upset and depressed for a week after diagnosing i didn't go to doc feel very scared to go what will happen if untreated pl tell me bro is that ok being without medication also i didn't see hb1c test very scared of this
@aneeshkrishnan2312 жыл бұрын
@@ishwariyap.r.7302 you don't need to be scared, first we need to check is the HBA1C to see how much sugar is there which attached to the blood if it's below 8 you can definitely try to make life style adjustments as i mentioned mine was 8.3 still I was able to bring it down to 6.4 still long way to go for me...but I'm sure I can reduce more..so be ready to make adjustments in ur lifestyle..if u don't have any symptoms of diabetes, then u are in good state to start making adjustments to ur lifestyle .check ur Hba1c and then change the lifestyle starting from today itself...be patient ..wait for atleast thre months, try to reduce some 5 kgs within 3 months and check the sugar levels again...u will see the postive changes...it's better always to take advice from doctor based on ur test results....the thing is that with lifestyle changes anyone newly diagnosed with diabetes can reverse the condition..thats what I believe..that's what I am experiencing..so no need to get depressed..it's time to start acting...u wil be fine..all the best 👍

Dr. Mohan, I fully agree with your term re-reversal of Diabetes. I am 62 years of age and had T2 for the last 12 years going without a single medication which led to a reckless attitude towards diat and ignoring to check my HBA1C in the last year or two. Unfortunately, complication of excess carbs and high sugar started to show up in the form of Proxima Neuropathy which struck all of a sudden without ANY SYMPTOMS OR WARNINGS. I had to go and do all the necessary checkups and my Doctor discovers my high Hba1c of 14! I was obliged to take medication (Janumet + Insulin) which I followed and managed to get my Hba1c down to 6.8 within 3 months. The lesson I learned was never to ignore taking the glucose measurements and of course do the Hba1c test regularly. Thanks again Dr for your kind contribution and highlighting the re-reversal of Diabetes. 🙏🙏🙏

Dr. Mohan - I am one of those who has lost 18 kgs and struggling to keep off medications! I totally agree about Remission - we are only one step away from getting diabetes back! I am 62 years young and I do cardio, strength building and diet watching to keep myself in check! But sometimes I believe eating a few pills to keep sugars under control should not be seen as a major problem. I appreciate the knowledge you are spreading about reversal vs remission!

I realised that health care is a lifelong project. Especially when you get better and remission has happened. I too was a classic case of relaxing once glucose levels came to normal and indulged in the occasional sweets initially to full blown garbage and binge eating. I am back now on a strict diet and exercise routine to get my T2 into remission again. And this time I plan to stick to it 🙂 This video is informative. Thank you for sharing 🙂

Doctor, many in the US have undergone bariatric surgery and are now hypoglycemic with terrible hypoglycemia. I'm in the group of Hypoglycemia management on fb because I have reactive hypoglycemia since my childhood but 50% of those in the group are because of this horrible surgery. Sad that this procedure leaves people with long term side effects.
@drvmohan3 жыл бұрын
I am aware that hypoglycemia is one of the side effects of bariatric surgery. There are many other side effects and hence it should be done only in those who have no other option, but to do it, and that too, with somebody with a lot of experience and a highly competent team.

Fantastic and genuinely concerning on people health talk especially re-reversible Diab.When 40 % plus people can make free from diabetes.others also can try..But as Doctor advised we have to continue that on the same spirit to escape from this disorder disease to avoid future complications if any.
@IndianSrMan3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. You are correct reversal is not cure. Question is which is better : maintaining proper hba1c with medicines and still continue to have diabetic complications (plus expnses) or have reversal by some strict diet and moderate exercise and avoiding all horror complications ? One has to be wise and responsible if he chooses 2nd path. Benifits are obvious.
@fridge_magnet11 ай бұрын
Most reasonable person in this topic. Most of the yotubers are extremists. People like Dr. Berg prescribes IF as one stop solution for all the problems. And there is another set who says it wouldnt work and diabetes is terminal. Great to see someone understanding both side of the arguments.
@captainamerica88043 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct doctor. After seeing so many videos on reversal, I always felt that there is no such thing as "No diabetes". People who never had diabetes cannot be called as " No diabetes " because they are just blocking it by maintaining a proper diet. The moment their diet gets spoiled and start including junk food or high carb food, their countdown starts from that very moment. Such people need not feel happy about not having diabetes because the reason for getting diabetes for the first time is the same reason that re-reverses the diabetes for the patients who had somehow reversed it. Ideally speaking the "No diabetes" category people are in the same situation that the "Successfully reversed" category people are in.

So have med long time and invite other side effects when u grow old? My opinion is have med until he body takes full control of sugar level in body .. Once u see benefits of having balanced diet and good lifestyle u won't have thought of re reversal of lifestyle..... Also having good diet and good exerciselifelong diminishes the significance of role of meds in our body....Our body is a natural mechanism.......

Sir wt about bariatric surgery For reversal of type 2diabetes in young age of 32
@drvmohan3 жыл бұрын
Bariatric surgery can definitely help to reverse diabetes, but there are definite indications for doing bariatric surgery as it is a procedure which can have side effects. 32 is not a very young age to attempt reversal. 2 of my patients who had morbid obesity underwent bariatric surgery at the age of 19. This completely changed their lives and from the stage of depression they became extremely motivated young people who went on to achieve many things in their lives. However, as I said earlier bariatric surgery should be done only in extreme cases and as the last resort.

Diabetes is not a disease that can be cured but a metabolic disorder that needs to be controlled. Hence, one needs to maintain discipline in terms of proper diet and exercise in order to ensure that their sugar levels are under control. Having said that, none of the doctors nowadays talk about remission aspect, they have their patients as their monthly customers.

Associations of fats and carbohydrate intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 18 countries from five continents (PURE): a prospective cohort study Dr Mahshid Dehghan, PhD Andrew Mente, PhD Xiaohe Zhang, MSc Sumathi Swaminathan, PhD Prof Wei Li, PhD Prof Viswanathan Mohan, MD Interpretation High carbohydrate intake was associated with higher risk of total mortality, whereas total fat and individual types of fat were related to lower total mortality. Total fat and types of fat were not associated with cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, or cardiovascular disease mortality, whereas saturated fat had an inverse association with stroke. Global dietary guidelines should be reconsidered in light of these findings. It seems Dr Mohan was one of the author in this paper which says fat has inverse association with stroke and here he says fats should be low in diet. sounds contrary
