I've read all the books, and I've attended a great deal of programs (even True North) and all I have to say is that you've made the biggest impact on my life. You have a way of pulling all the pieces and parts together to make this all make sense and most importantly, "user friendly". THANK YOU Chef AJ!

YUMMY SAUCE Ingredients: 1 x 15 ounce can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained (or 1.5 cups of cooked beans) Juice and zest of one organic lemon (if the lemon does not yield 1/4 of a cup of juice, then add more lemon juice) 1/2 cup water 2 Tablespoons salt-free mustard (I use Westbrae Stoneground) 3/4 ounce pitted dates (approximately 3 deglet noor dates) 1 clove garlic Preparation: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you are using a high-powered blender, you can make this sauce warm to serve over rice and veggies. It is also delicious cold massaged into shredded cabbage for "Yummy Slaw". :)

I realize this is an older post and I have just found this today. I have recently transitioned part-time into a vegan lifestyle from a vegetarian lifestyle after losing 100 pounds. I have many health problems and I'm only 45 years old. I have had covid earlier this year and I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow because I'm having some problems. But I'm committed to my health and after seeing this video I can see how easy it is to plan ahead and make sure that my health is top priority in terms of food prep. Thank you for such an encouraging video! Hopefully this plateau I'm in will be over with pretty soon and I can continue on my weight loss journey as I have another 140 lb to lose! You inspire me!

Mcdougall diet convert here: 8 or so weeks and down 16 pounds! I feel better, I know I am healthier! I get a cholesterol test in 8 weeks, and then talk to my doctor. She should be impressed quite a bit as long as I hang in there! I did bad on a few days and ate the Progresso bread crumbs, but they are gone now. Potatoes and other items fill me fine! Goal is another 21 pounds to be 150 pounds: It'll be a total loss of 40 pounds. It's not hard work. I'm never hungry eating these starches: potatoes, beans and rice. I have a good combination of them now to get my nutrients. I can go over if I work out.

I use to eat this way. I read Dr. Dean ornish 's book. Eat more and weigh less. Same concept and I didn't go hungry. I lost 11 pounds in one week without exercise. I didn't even notice till my mom said... I think you lost weight ! I said I don't think so. I couldn't believe my scale! I just kept stepping on and off of it as if it was broke. I had been bedridden for more then a year and gained a bunch of weight. I was thrilled when it melted off. People also kept asking what I did. I changed my eating is what I told them. Sometimes they would ask me what I was eating and I told them. Some were disappointed cause they loved meat ect.. It's definitely something you want to change. Cuddos to you ! Great job ! Keep us going you inspired me today !

So for breakfast/brunch I can have 1lb steamed cruciferous veggies and lunch 1lb Big Beautiful Chopped Salad (Nutmeg Notebook) and dinner cooked starches. Thanks for telling us about how you lost weight. I am 4'10" and weighed 192 in my mid 50's. I had numerous health issues and then I was told I had NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver). I was shocked as I had never heard of it and also I thought I was eating healthy even though I was still eating the SAD. My sister suggested I watch the documentary Fork Over Knives so my husband and I watched it. The next day we started our WFPBNSOS eating lifestyle. This was back in March 2018. I have lost 50 lbs since then but have been stuck there for months. I am looking at ways to loose more weight and I am thinking about trying the calorie density way of eating. I love True North too - had an appt. with Dr. Klaper after being plant-based for a year and not getting down to my BMI. Like you, I gotta eat lots of GREENS...and really cut out all the SOS. Just being plant-based wasn't enough for me to get to a healthy weight. I am from Romania and after seeing your video on Dr McDougal channel I started to eat like you. I feel so much better and I am starting to loose the extra pounds (about 90 extra i have). What I find hard is to eat with no salt at all. What is the problem if i add a little salt ? Would I slow the process of loosing weight ? Can I use salt substitute, witch is only 1/4 sodium ? Thank you very much for inspiring me Chef AJ !
@sarafritsch1238 жыл бұрын
Just try to cut it out of your diet. It will be weird at first but you will start to taste the natural salt in many foods (especially greens). If you really don't want to cut out salt, then that's fine. But if you have a tendency to overeat on salty foods, the extra stimulating salt may be why.

I love your haircut! Very flattering. I'm trying your plan for weight loss starting right now. I'm 53 and have had a total hysterectomy. Since then, I've had a very difficult time losing weight. Since I have no ovaries, I'm on supplemental Estrogen. I hope that this plan will help me lose 40-60 pounds. I became plant-based in April 2016, but still didn't lose much weight. I think I just ate too much fat and too many calories. I have high hopes that eating your way will do the trick, since we are very close in age. What are your thoughts? Love you!

I would like to thank you for helping people to lose weight it is very inspiring. Last June 2019 my wife joined the WW program here in the UK and I am the cook at home so I read the WW books and didn't cook anything from them. I am a great believer in enjoying food and being 61 years old had a lot of cooking years behind me so all I had to do was adapt my own recipes to fit into the WW point system and hey presto I lost 30 pounds in a few months. I stay around 182 pounds now and have made a lifestyle change. I still have some naughties as I'm sure we all do but I wanted to share my food too. I am not a qualified chef but have some interesting recipes. I started a youtube chanel in Feb 2020 just before the pandemic and looking to keep adding my recipes when I get the time. I wanted to do 1 a week (as still work and only have weekends free). It would be interesting to hear what you think as a chef about my food. I have thousands of recipes in my head from the years of cooking and just cannot wait to get enough time to get thm out there and share them. I just watched your live lentil shepherds pie and was sooo suprised as I have been making something very similar with green lentils for my veggie freinds.

AJ, You and I follow PRECISELY the same diet. Unlimited whole fruits, whole vegetables, whole grains and whole legumes. Plain. No SOS. I LOVE Dr. McDougall. Satiating foods first. Guilty pleasure fruits (bananas, grapes, blueberries, tangerines, apples) afterwards.

Chef AJ! Thanks for this video and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'm a few years older and love my plant based life. As you can tell by my photo, I'm a runner too.... Fueled by plants! Here's a question... does your secret sauce contain white beans? :)
