Love that it isn’t speckled like most vegan pates. When I use mushrooms, I know it’s because of the gills, but I hate to pull them out, seems wasteful. Lentils and green beans can make it look a sickly green (not good). This just look homogeneous out of the blender.

veggie/vegan banh mis are so tasty. Their banh mi buns come in bags of 4 from my local grocery, so I end up having it for 4 straight lunches -- so good! Very similar to how i make mine for my bahn mi, except i use mushrooms too, and sometimes exclude the walnuts if I'm trying to go low-fat (and no oil)... Never used corn starch or lemon juice, but i definitely will give that a whirl now. Very well done, sir.

I made this and I like it, but something is off with the taste. It has a really strong maggi flavour. Did you use 'normal' tsp and tbsp for measuring? Because I used those within the US cup system and it seemed really much to me. Which would explain that strong maggi taste.
@ThePotThickens2 жыл бұрын
I do use the normal US measurements, but often I do just grab a spoon and eyeball it. The original recipe just used soy sauce. I do like the taste of maggi a lot, but I think this is so forgiving that you could easily reduce the amount without any problem.
@Roseau1123 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this easy delicious dish. One question, how long can you keep it in the fridge?
@ThePotThickens3 жыл бұрын
I’ve kept it for a week without problem. I’m not sure how much longer it will last after that. I’ve tried feeding it. The flavor is fine, but the texture does become more grainy after freezing. You can half this recipe to make less quantity if you want.
@Roseau1123 жыл бұрын

Hi so I want to try to make the pate for this Christmas my only problem is that in Lebanon we don't have miso paste nor Maggi seasoning. Can I replace them both with soy sauce or what else should replace them because I really want it to taste as close as possible to pâté. And if I can replace them, is the quantity the same? Thank you so much for your amazing recipes I've tried the seitan and it always works!💚
@ThePotThickens3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Good question. You can substitute more soy for maggi sauce. As a matter of fact, the recipe that inspired this used soy and I changed it to include the maggi. I’ve been thinking about the miso. You could just sub more soy sauce but you already have enough soy flavor in this. I would try replacing it with some tahini for a bit of creaminess and more depth of flavor. Please let me know how it turns out.

Update I actually tried it and at first I must say while the ingredients were blending together the odor was very strong and had nothing to do with pate and I was really scared and I just thought to myself trust the process. Anyway the next day I removed it from the fridge and took it to the Christmas eve dinner since pate was always a must on that night. Everyone was so surprised how: one it looked exactly like pate and two how the flavor was the same! We were literally fighting over it! (Btw no one on the table was vegan or even vegetarian) I even did it again on new year and there’s so much quantity we ate for 3 days pate! Thank you so much for the recipe and for helping me with the substitutes! Im so happy to see your channel grow and can’t wait to try other amazing recipes💚

I've noticed that you use Maggi in some of your recipes. I don't know if you're vegan for ethical reasons or something else. If ethics do play a part in your plant-based diet, I have to warn you that Maggi is a Nestlé product. They are an extremely problematic company that actually have brought and continue to bring suffering to humans in poor countries (even before their very recent decision to abandon fair-trade chocolate for Kit-Kat).
