Traditional Trini Sunday Lunch here! Everything looking proper! Macaroni Pie is actually the original version of Mac & Cheese, in Gullah cuisine they used to bake macaroni pie back in the day before the popularized version known in the US now. The callaloo is made with Dasheen or Taro Leaves, Okra, Pumpkin, Coconut Milk etc. More than likely the spice you're getting from it is from scotch bonnet or habanero pepper.

I can tell the food is good just from the appearance - it is jiggly and glistening. That's what real food made with love looks like. I'm Filipino American from NYC and I am on Liberty Avenue at least once a month getting my Trini food fix. It is my favorite cuisine in the world easily followed by Sri Lankan, Thai, Malaysian, Jamaican and Southern Soul Food. I really like savory, sweet, spicy combination with any Indian influence.

Omg I miss the food already and of course red solo - even though I’m able to get trini food in Toronto, there’s something extra special about having it there that magic can’t be duplicated!!! Didn’t get to visit Tobago this trip but next time for sure. A popular beach called “Store Bay” in Tobago offers all those dishes you tried and more. Hopefully you get to try curry crab n dumplings one day. I think you’ll enjoy it. Ps. It’s most common to say “stew chicken” ;)

The caribbean do have similar meals. I cannot help but compare my own Island of Jamaica. The red beans stew, in Jamaica we call Stew Peas and will have pig tail and or other meats like beef and chicken feet Jamaicans prepare the callaloo differently too, it would be leafy and not as mushy. There are alot of Jamaican meals you have not tried. Big up to Trinidad though, representing the Caribbean with their uniqueness. Thanks for sharing. Next time take me with you, lol.

Definitely one of the highlight Caribbean foods I've ever had. Worth trying.

I was born and raised in Toronto and moved to Cali like 19yrs ago. There’s a huge Trini community where I grew up and I lived for Roti and doubles. You’re so right, it’s sooo hard to find authentic Trinidadian food here LA so I need to check this place out! Thanks for doing this video 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️

Trini boy here. Happy you enjoyed. Come visit the island sometime. This I only a fraction of what we have for Sunday lunch* (not brunch).
