I'm 57 and high BP runs in my family. I've been on meds for nearly 20 years now and my numbers are all over the place. In the past when I walked it would come down but then I stopped walking. I lost my 28 year old son in 2020 to cancer and I just went downhill in a spiral. I'm 212 Lbs and our daughter gets married next October, I've been walking on treadmill the past 2 weeks 45 minutes each session and BP has come down. It's time I put my chin up, stand tall, accept a horrible experience I cannot change and get my health taken care of for good.

I lowered my blood pressure significantly (140/90 to 115/75) by changing my diet. It took 6 months for the complete change. I now drink beet juice every day, oatmeal and fruit every day, ground flaxseeds every day. Lots of greens and veggies. Very little if any animal products. I already exercised regularly so I couldn't change that.

I appreciate you both for giving advice about natural ways to possibly reduce BP. Typically doctors encourage us to take meds. Another informative video! Of course I have high blood pressure. Everytime I walk into a doctor's office, it's off the charts. And the first thing the doctor will ask is if I use a lot of salt. Ironically I don't. I've never been a big salter and I really don't like things very salty. Then I learned about white coat syndrome or white coat hypertension. My doctor had me take my blood pressure at home for two weeks and write it down. I took the readings to the doctor, along with my monitor. My readings were normal at home. My reading was again high in the doctor's office, with his monitor and mine. I was actually off blood pressure medicine for several years but then went to a new doctor. It took me four years of seeing her to have a low to normal blood pressure reading in her office. I was taking two blood pressure medicines but am down to one now. I appreciate you giving us a couple of alternatives in the form of food that can be incorporated into our diets. I have no problem with beets as we used to grow them. And there are ways of preparing them so they don't taste like dirt. I've also been watching another KZbinr who has been incorporating flaxseed into her diet for it's medicinal purposes. She adds flaxseed to many recipes, especially her oatmeal bakes. This feels like the easiest assignment you've given us! This is totally doable! And if these two ingredients can help lower blood pressure, I'm totally onboard! Thanks again for sharing another great video!

Fo those who want to avoid meds this along with the other things you mentioned can make a difference. Letting people know foods to eat if they don't want to or can't take drugs is amazing!!! We need doctors to not be so negative when people try that before drugs. Surprised that you didn't mention celery. I was under the impression that it was great to lower blood pressure. Maybe it can cause other problems? Anyway, I love knowing this. Thank you!!!

I have been using 3 tablespoons of beet extract along with 3 tablespoons of chopped flaxseed in a Raspberry, blueberry, banana, orange juice, yogurt smoothie for the past three days and have dropped my systolic down approx. 15-20 points and my diastolic down approx. 5-10 points and am now around the 120/80. This is after going on Chlorthalidone a month and a half ago and having to stop it because of extreme joint and muscle pain.. And the meds did not drop my blood pressure down as low. Awesome information guys!

Thank you for the great information. We will start adding beets, beet juice, and flax seeds to our diet. Could you make a video discussing the benefits (or not) of using hemp hearts? Is there any reason to use them? We are trying to eat a more plant-based diet and have dropped my husband's A1C and fructosomine levels dramatically. We really enjoy all your videos...the knee replacement ones in particular as my husband will be undergoing that surgery soon.

Hi, I'm 59 year old male, I have never had an issue with BP. I exersice regularly, I'm a vegetarian, I don't smoke, or drink alcohol. My BP has alway been in the normal to a bit lower range, with a low pulse. Within the past 4 months, I have noticed being dizzy, a pressure in my head, with ringing in my ears, and a bit out of breath. For the past 4 months, my BP has been as high as 158/90. Thank you. Al

Hi Docs! Thanks for being docs. I have a question. One cup of beet juice a day = up to a 10% decrease in blood pressure. Three tablespoons of flaxseed = up to a 10% decrease of blood pressure. So…would your suggested volume of beet juice, and quantity flaxseed taken together = a 20% decrease in blood pressure?

Hey Docs, nice to see you both again. Thank you for talking about this subject today. Can Hypertension be hereditary. My Mum & her sister both had it. I had it only during pregnancy. But now at the age of 58 I’ve developed it. I take HRT, and have regular check ups, it was on one of these checks that I found out I had high blood pressure. Thanks for the tips on what to take as a natural aid to lowering it. Beetroot, does have a nice earthy smell/taste, which I really like. I do eat them in salads regularly, but I will also include their juice in my diet. Flaxseed is another nice one. I dont eat that, but I shall start, that’s really easy to access & you can eat it anytime anywhere. Mum used to boil grapefruit skin & drink it, as a tea, don’t think it lowered her blood pressure any though🥰

I had high blood presure sometime ago and tried to lower it, but it didn't work. Then l watched some doctors here on youtube said that refined carbs like sugar and flour products such as any kinds of bread, pasta and others are the cause of it. Then l stopped eating those stuffs (l cheat a little bit, like once a month😃). That worked very well. I also sunbath for 10 minutes to get vitamin D and l consume green veggies to have magnesium. My BP has been normal, around 110/75 for 5 years now.
