This video has been a long time coming and I finally feel ready to share my body transformation story of essentially going from binge eating/drinking, to a 1,500 calorie-restrictive SAD diet, to an abundantly colorful 3,000+ calorie WFPB diet! To sum it up...
Changes I went through:
1) Overweight on the SAD (Standard American Diet)
2) "Skinny Fat" w/ high cholesterol on a "healthy" diet of 1,500 calories a day eating Lean Cuisine, Fiber One everything, and cold cut subs
3) Underweight on 1,500 calories a day on a whole foods plant-based diet (you can see not all calories are created equal)
4) Healthy, Happy, & Fit on 3,000+ calories a day as a vegan breastfeeding mom & plant-powered athlete

I'm 60 this year and have been WFPB for the past 10 years. My journey is similar to yours and it is awesome that you came to a WFPB lifestyle so early in your life! I wish I had know about it sooner in my life but all roads have led me to where I am and I'm totally happy about that! Life really is a journey and through it all, we've been able to raise our 4 children (mainly in Asia: China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan) to become awesome adults now and that's what's important to me. We've traveled the world, including all 7 continents, and appreciate all of the earth's beauties and love to hike, bike, ski and scuba dive. Now that we're at this stage, we can go on humanitarian missions and recently returned from 18 months in Egypt. A strong faith in God and gratitude for all we have is what makes us happy and keeps us going. Thanks for sharing your beautiful story! You are so brave!! Even though you don't know me, I enjoy following you and I just have to say, "I'm so proud of you!!" :)

I’m 50. Has going vegan helped with menopause. Cause I’m over this phase in my life. I have no issue going vegan full on. But does it help with meno?

@@carrierainwater3678 So many WFPB experts talk about how much it helps with menopause symptoms but honestly, I haven't completely found that to be true for me! I have found that following Menopause Taylor on KZbin has been the best help for understanding how to handle the symptoms of menopause. Dr. Barbie Taylor is a OB/GYN who specializes in menopause and she provides a real education through her free videos. I have watched them all and highly recommend her videos!

@@carrierainwater3678 yes it helps having no animal hormones & progesterone/oestrogen changes with menopause. Agnus castus (Vitex) & Black cohosh are also great supplements to take for menopause.

I suffered from uterine fibroids- a rather extreme case - for over 10 years and had four surgeries in that time- 2 fairly major. I used to have periods so bad that I would be severely anemic and had to get iron infusions at the hospital in order to recover enough for my next period- and then took some VERY strong hormones to force menopause until I had surgery. It was extremely an extremely difficult time and very difficult to deal with. After the last surgery, less than six months later my symptoms were starting to come back. I, by coincidence, decided to try being vegan (I follow the Starch Solution when possible), and my next period was SO MUCH BETTER that I knew there was no going back. Now when I have dairy, which I do once in a while, I get hives. Same with eggs. I've lost some weight (I still have work to do), but there is no doubt in my mind that this is a healthier way to go, and I wish more women who have issues with hormones / acne, etc would try it. I also got COMPLETELY off any hormones of any kind. My period is now regular. My hair started to improve once I got off the hormones, and now I have the great hair I had when I was younger again. It's been HUGE. I can't overstate the positive impact.

I don’t normally comment on videos but it broke my heart when you started crying, simply because I feel that you’ve changed for the good but you’ve allowed this one moment in your whole entire life to affect you as it has. Please forgive yourself for not knowing what you wanted in life. You were so young and still are so l believe you should accept that part of your life because of it you ended up where you are now. Happy, healthy and beautiful inside and out. Ps i totally have the issues with fiber, sooo I get it, but it’s OK. I’m a work in progress. And that’s the key to everything as I see it as long as we progress to healthy and choose the right things for our body we are doing what is needed.

Thank you for your story....I went from 240+ to 98 pounds before we learned I was allergic to animal products. We didn't know why I was losing so much weight and was sent to Shands Cancer Research hospital at the University of Florida. I was dying of severe malutrition (literally) and we didn't know why. Since going wfpb, I've regained my health....going on 5 years plant based and loving it. I understand your anxiety!

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. I am 55 years old, went vegan 28 years ago with my first baby - did the "Fit for Life" it was called by the Diamond couple. Made me loose a lot of weight and although I had two healthy babies within 22 months which I breastfed a long time as well, I was very skinny. I understand your fear of comments, Erin. After everyone around me nagging, I started eating "normally" again - what is normal after all - and gained weight. However, I seem to have a natural tendency to be at least veg if not vegan. Vegan probably because I do not have access to fresh, unspoilt produce (I live on a remote island), and the commercial stuff disgusts me. The idea of animals being tortured, the environment being completely polluted by packing and transporting for us to consume products that comes from unhappy creatures who have been treated with hormones and antibiotics is just not going down well with me. Having said this, I am struggling with my weight for 2 years now. Originally, it started off with what they call "cancer" in my stomach. I have my own opinion about the whole thing which I will not go in depth here. I went plant-based again right away, cutting out the little animal products I did (love my cheese). Lost nearly 30kg's on 1,78m (sorry I am metric) and at 51kg's, definitely underweight. However, I do feel good and know that my weight will change again. I did everything naturally and eventually and very slowly feel better. A lot of work on my thoughts as well, without this, you cannot make it. We can poison ourselves from inside and this is the advice I would like to give you, Erin: please distance yourself emotionally from your body image. Do not put too much emphasize on it. You are doing what you "should" do, fair enough. But you must do what is good for you, and by judging this, you should be free from all emotions related to your body. There are techniques for that, I am sure you will find out. If you have a hard time doing this, the problem goes further and you have to go more in-depth. The experience I made is that I am being loved even if I do not "produce" or achieve anything great, which is a wonderful feeling. However, it can be a painful process, too, but it is very rewarding in the end, freeing you from any emotional stress, and completely liberating you. Well done for what you do, thank you!

I’ve had asthma since I was a child and have been on inhalers since then, but within a week of going plant based, I was off all medications. I can breathe! Lots of other issues clear up for me as well... brain fog, migraines, allergies, PCOS, body aches, dermatitis and other stuff. I am in the process of a transformation and hope to make a video on that in a few months. Eating WFPB, drinking a gallon of water a day, and weight training with heavy weights is making a tremendous impact on my health and body! I really appreciate you sharing your story, it is inspiring! 💗

I've been following your channel for awhile now, but somehow missed this video. You're so brave for posting this one. It is so transparent and heartfelt. I'm so sorry you had to endure such mental burden. I went through postpartum not knowing what I had and suffered from horrible anxiety and panic attacks. I completely understand what you had to deal with. I have so much respect for you and I appreciate you. Thanks for you, your channel and your beautiful family.

Erin, I so appreciate you being open. We all have struggles (even daily) and always will. I had bulimia for 7 years back in my teens into young adulthood. I thank our God that I was able to stop with His help. I'll always be weight conscious but in a much healthier way. I love the way the vegan diet helps with mental clarity and that you can eat so much more and literally feel better. I've been on every diet, you name it...tried everything and this way of eating/lifestyle is the answer! It makes sense period. I never thought I would become vegan/raw for most part, until I started watching Dr. Morse, Dan McDonald, Kristina Fully Raw and your channel. It's the answer, it works, and it's not a diet. It's a way of super nutrition. One day at a time for all of us. None of us are perfect. You are such a genuine person...if someone can't see that, so be it. Your passion for this way of eating/optimal health is inspirational! So inspirational, I plan to take my first class online with Dr. Morse. Thank you from my heart Erin. Many blessings to you and yours... I love wearing my EAT, MOVE, REST gear and thank you for that as well!

Thank you for sharing you story with us. I can relate on being obsessed over numbers. It has been a struggle for almost 20 years. I recently started a 6 week fitness challenge and food recommendations were given. I found myself obsessing over my food and stopped right away. Understanding our triggers and facing them is key. I appreciate your sharing your journey. xox

This touched my heart so deeply and of course I cried along with you. So much of this resonates with me, thank you for sharing your story and helping to educate us on the facts about plant based eating and whole foods... I have struggled the last 7 years with gaining weight, grief, menopause, life's ups and downs with some hardships.. and with the weight gain feeling uncomfortable not like myself. Floundering a bit too with it all. I am excited to have found your channel, and to learn more. You are absolutely beautiful and transparent, I am happy you found your balance and healthy lifestyle. Amazing! xoxo

Thank you Erin for telling your story. I have been on this love hate journey for four years. I hate consuming animal products but I have not gotten the courage to completely give them up from fear of becoming lacking in some areas of nutrition. I have been on high blood pressure medication for four years. My last two pregnancies ended up with me having gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, with my three year old and eclampsia with my two year old. I watch your videos and pray that one day I can take the jump to better my health. It's hard when everyone around you has nothing but negative things to say about the vegan/ plant based lifestyle. I just wanted to say thanks again for what you do.

I am reaching my one month journey on being plant based. We have been relatively clean eaters but this journey has definitely been an eye opener. The cutting out meat wasn't difficult but having to look at other things to verify there was no dairy has definitely been a challenge. My 2yr old is my why through all of this. This past year I have been having MS flareups and a knee injury that has made it hard for me to walk. I'm hoping I can start working out and building up my strength to get back to me! Thank you for sharing your journey.

This is the best video I’ve ever seen. I have a disgusting relationship with food. I can’t seem to get it together. I’m 62 years old and still struggle. I’ve had a gastric bypass, done the 700 calorie a day diet during the seventies, was vegan for two years and lost weight, but I ate processed stuff, and now I’m off it eating everything. Meat, cheese, you name it. I know better, but I do it anyway. I’m trying to understand it but I can’t. It’s like I hate myself or something. When you cried, I started to cry too, which surprised me. Writing this comment, I am crying too. You are a lovely, caring person and I thank you for sharing this story. You are a beautiful person inside and out. You are well on your way to finding your inner peace. 💚

Thank you so much for your kind words and your support, Mary. It really means a lot to me...more than you know! Our relationship with food is a tumultuous one, for many of us, but I've learned to be grateful to have any at all, and to use it to nourish me from the inside out! Think if before every bite, we could all ask ourselves, is this helping me or hindering me? That small question has helped me a ton!

@@maryegerton6848 I have a disgusting relationship with food too, total junk food addict but vegan, only just switched to my WFPB diet for about a month now and it's going good, have a cheat day on Sunday atm so I don't relapse but plan to phase it out, education is totally key! knowing little fundamentals helps a tone, its overwhelming at first but after time it starts to make sense over time, some good resources are nutritionfacts.org, mic the vegan on youtube, some plant-based doctors like Dr Greger, Dr Goldner, Dr Esselstyn, Dr Barnard, Dr Klaper to name a few are good to listen to, you'll find the rest with these bunch. Also learning about why we have these addictions has really helped me to get over the junk food, a book called The Pleasure Trap really helped me on that, Stared using cronometer.com has helped to select the correct foods to get all the good stuff in and learn about macronutrients of particular foods, eating till full with WFPB makes this easier and im healthy losing weight while feeling good at the same time and not hungry, with some education and mental will power u'll get past it, I was annoyed at myself as I was learning all this but still making the bad choices, I was my worst enemy for such a long time but I eventually got over it, like the lady says patience and persistence, u got it ✌️
