It has been trouble free for me but is at its limits with ABS and its slow but very good print quality with just a foamboard enclosure. I want to relegate it to PLA and get a new machine for ABS. @@Kimberlie1 So not trying to call anyone out but rebuilding the hotend and securing it properly on a brand new printer is not a firmware update. I see it flaunted as a X1C challenger but with nothing close to the quality of prints. I mean it’s not terrible but every one of the toaster test models were far from excellent and the prints shown had obvious zits and stringing. I know there is a lot of pressure on reviewers to give these pros and cons and I don’t know maybe not get sued. But videos claiming everything is fine when clearly they are not just makes it difficult to decide if it’s worth it or not. I had one in my cart and then slowly backed away. I have been tricked before and am very skeptical now.

I saw few first look of thid Qidi and I can tell that print quality is low.. presliced benchy from usb is printed in 21 minutes and one that customer sliced is about 40 min.. Prusa MK4S presliced benchy print in 8 min qnd one sliced by customer print in about 20, all in better quallity than that.. of corse if you have Prusa MK4 (not S version) or older you can't know don't take me wrong Prusa is not best.. but no Qidi is not high quality or high speed printer, maby printing abs or asa show higher quality...

Great review. My new 4 Plus arrives day early, will be here tomorrow. Keep watching reviews in the meantime, very excited! This is add to my Q1 Pro, XSmart3, and highly modified Ender3v2 which I learned on. Will be starting channel in Oct/Nov timeframe which covers 3d printers as used around my small wood and steel shop. The 4Plus will be exciting when they add the AMS 1st quarter 2025. I can not justify $2400 for Bambu Labs with heated chamber. I think Qidi has released a game changer based upon own experience doing engineering grade materials on my Q1 and even Xsmart3. Love fact moving up to the 305mm base plate. The new nozzle design looks very good as does the massive build plate. It really looks like Qidi paid attention to detail on this design, learning from past recent releases. I will say Qidi support has been first class. They listen to customer feedback and known to make changes based on customer input to their designs, even will to update manufacturing runs to ensure new additions and changes reach the public fast. You have a new subscriber, appreciate your review!

@@JTs3DPrints I don't do cosplay stuff or dragons. I run a business and this machine excites me so much. I don't want to spend time tweaking I want an appliance that just prints. @@ebpmanThat is good to know! I primarily do tons of glass or carbon fiber prints, need the dimensional stability for large prints such as cases and dust handling equipment. I enjoy when I can hit print and know it will come out right the first time. My favorite material is Nylon, love Qidi PAHT-CF it prints gorgeous exceptionally strong prints which work well for some of the tools I have been making. I just picked up three rolls of their ABS-GF25 love that product also, looks great on outer walls with fuzzy skin set for .3 and .3 setting.

A great review like this will draw some attention to the US government NSA agency. I wonder if these high end 3D printers from China will become a national security risk someday?

All the source code is available, and if you distrust the executables that are delivered, you can compile them yourself. Qidi has embraced and supports the open source movement. Mind you, out of necessity in terms of support, then soft-lock the firmware versions to their official ones, but if you REALLY distrust them, you can actually throw all of that away and just install your own firmware.

@@ipadize I think they help the US governemnt justify the banning of all thing Chinese. Welcome to America. The people have no power. DJI, TikTok, Hauwei... "Yes, the US House of Representatives passed a bill to ban new DJI drones from operating in the United States on September 9, 2024. The Countering CCP Drones Act, which received bipartisan support, will now move to the Senate for review. If the Senate adds the bill to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), it could eventually land on President Joe Biden's desk. The bill would add DJI to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Covered List, which would prevent new DJI drones from operating on US communications networks. This would effectively make them unusable. The bill is part of a larger effort to address potential threats posed to the US by Chinese-made technology. Some lawmakers are concerned that DJI drones collect sensitive information that could be sent back to the parent company, DJI. The US has previously tried to block DJI drones from entering the country, including placing DJI on a sanctions list in 2017. However, the ban was lifted in 2018 after the US Department of Defense found no comparable products in the same price range."

Qidi AMS ? Also all the test prints would fit on an A1 mini, use the full build capacity to test it, not a benchy, we want to get a big printer to print big stuff, trinkets are a basic requirement these days not a benchmark

@davidcooper5743 ай бұрын
They should have made it at least the size of the x max 3. Those who print large prints would easily pay more for a large core xy printer. The cosplay crowd would buy it. I print on a neptune 4 plus and 320x320 is not big enough sometimes without having to glue or weld piece together. I wasn’t saying it was a bad printer just wish these manufacturers would make something a little better. Great printers for the money just wish they were at least 350x350.
@802Garage3 ай бұрын
@@davidcooper574 The vast majority of 3D printer users don't need a printer that large. The cost goes way up and the shipping is insane. They will likely release a larger Max4 printer to cover that, at higher cost. Then they will have a lineup covering three sizes.

It's a great printer. But some of the things your saying are incorrect. For eg. U can't tell if a first layer is good from the bottom side. U have to see the squish on the top of the first layer to see how well it does.
@802Garage2 ай бұрын
You can tell if a bottom layer is squished enough by look at the bottom as there will be gaps if it was not. If it is very over squished you will have elephants foot too.
@xDarthwarzx2 ай бұрын
@802Garage the bottom if its over squished. Looks the same as optimal. Also a bottom layer can just be touching and look OK from the bottom. This is incorrect information. This is why 1st layer test are a thing. The reliable correct way is to look at the print first layer from the top
@802Garage2 ай бұрын
@@xDarthwarzx I feel like you literally did not read what I said. I agree there are certain aspects of the first layer you cannot tell by looking at the bottom of the print, that's why I listed the things you can tell. It is more important that the bottom layer be squished enough than not be too squished.

@802Garage which u cannot tell from looking at the bottom . I gave some maybes. But even in the most perfect scenario. Your gonna be more than likley wrong. Therr are maybe aspects which can make the bottom look like x. But your over extruding.
