This is Eckhart in 2014. I haven't listened to him for a few years now so I was pleasantly surprised how much the NOW observations he always talks about have become warm and humorous. His spiritual being and human personality seem quite married to each other. His comfortableness is reassuring to me....

Sure, if you’re focused on the present moment, you won’t be ruminating on your problems. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have any problems. If you don’t have any money and you’re homeless, that problem doesn’t go away merely because you stop thinking about it. I know Tolle spent some time homeless, and he didn’t feel like he had a problem. But it’s possible to have problems and not realize it. Being in a state of ignorant bliss is no use if your life falls apart around you. If I close my eyes while driving, the other cars are still there. And what if you’re out walking and an angry dog chases you and bites hold of your leg? You can focus on your breathing all you want, but the problem still exists.

@@MrClarkkent2001 we can create any reality we choose to and it remains ours. What does it matter to me if others say that is not consistent with their view? It means nothing to my life if I choose not to be influenced by their opinions. We can exist with dual realities. A problem only exists if we see it as one. No money may be a problem for someone reliant on that value to life, someone else may view it as opportunity.

Thank you Eckhart for your answer to my questioning myself when others tell me I 'need structure and a plan" my mind goes into a jumble. In toastmasters 20 years ago I won every aware when it was impromptu questions directed at me. When they told me I had to write a speech and present it I couldn't do it, it was a mess... because that moment passed and this was the moment to allow Source to come through. I am dealing with that right now where a beautiful and inspiring friend wants a lot of structure in a workshop we were hoping to do together... this woman is a gem, but I realized I may have to bow out as I could make her crazy and I would feel stifled if I couldn't go with the flow of those in the room. Thank you for making me realize, I don't 'need' to do it another way.

@@MrClarkkent2001 2 years ago I wrote that. It holds true for me today. Yes, 'problems' can arise, but they really aren't problems when you stay in present moment awareness-- they are curious opportunities for shifting a belief -healing a old wound, so a reaction is entirely different than one of the past that may have kept you stuck. For instance, a friend and client wanted to pay me 1/4 of my normal rate and insisted she couldn't afford more even though she was spending tons of money on expensive things that she didn't even need for at least a year. For a moment i was angry and hurt. I felt she didn't value me or my gifts. I knew it was an opportunity for growth and not blame or victim-hood, and asked myself where those feeling were first felt. I went back to childhood and sat with that for a bit, and then asked if I could see it through my adult eyes and not the child's projection. In that moment compassion swept through me and the issue vanished. Suddenly new information came to me, ideas I had not previously been able to see, as I had taken it as an all or none situation. I could then lovely go back to this person and say, "No problem, I am happy to help you but I will be adding my commissions to purchases (instead of passing my designer discounts on to her) and I will be taking other jobs to subsidize my income and assist you the best I can." Not exactly that, it seems to come out far more eloquently when one is flowing in the moment, but you get my point, solutions always come. If a dog bit me, I guess I would ask myself why I didn't instinctively know to stay away for that animal, because as with people, you can feel their vibration before I even see a person or thing, or if bit, deal with your possibilities in that moment. I did run into a very large bear one late fall evening as I was leaving a deserted structure after taking photos a few years ago. I actually recently wrote about it on my blog a couple months ago because coming face to face unexpectedly with this beautiful creature was amazing and I have never forgot those magical moments. I never felt fear. I was about 10 feet from it , it seemed to be 4-5' tall on all fours. We just starred at each other after coming to an abrupt stop. All I could think of was how beautiful its big brown eyes were, how magnificent, and the magic of its long fur catching the last rays of sunlight on that fall eve. After several moments, I gently raised my hand and pointed to the bank and forest a short distance behind it and calmly but firmly said, "Go home- go home now, go back into the forest now" It just continued to stare at me so I said it again.and it turned walked down the bank and stop for a moment to turn back look at me and disappeared into the forest. I drove back to the retreat center I was staying at and shared the experience with the director, who immediately said, "You should never look directly into the eyes of these bears!" I am glad I wasn't told that before I had this encounter, because I might have believed him and held fear instead of love. Fear is what keeps us from living fully. (No recklessly, but lovingly)

The teachings of many a man wiser than I. but i fear there is no truth other than what you can find yourself. What word of god has not been tamperd and alterd by man to suit a specific agenda. thats why i cannot subscribe to any organised religon. the closest we can be to god is to learn from people like the buddah and jesus. or Eckhart tolle and alan watts. their messages are all the same.
@Terreformations201410 жыл бұрын
joeforHistruth In what exact way is presence and abiding in being present not compatible with the truth that Jesus taught us? Have you read Mathew 6:34, Isaiah 34:18, Ecclesiastes 5:18, Psalm 118:2? There is a level to knowing Christ and his teachings that you do not seem to have enjoyed. It would appear that you have allowed your pastors or whoever taught you what you believe to poison you to the real truth of Christs teachings. There is nothing in what Eckhart teaches that is not totally congruent with the teachings of Christ. It is sad that you cannot know the true love of Christ because you have buried it under fundamentalist religious dogma. I pray that you will know the deception you have made into a belief system that separates you from God. I really do.

Not everything you hear is the truth, cause the ego is the self and is the desire, age it self can control it, as the person get older,he can't do things he use to and he mixt consciousness with knowledge .what you don't know you don't know . consciousness is what you are aware off, awareness is the key .

+camabelu e Pain, illness, loss, age and death seem to threaten. All my hopes and wishes and plans appear to be at the mercy of a world I cannot control. Yet perfect security and complete fulfillment are my inheritance. I have tried to give my inheritance away in exchange for the world I see. But God has kept my inheritance safe. The world I see holds a fearful self-image in place, and guarantees its continuance. While you see the world as you see it now, truth cannot enter awareness. I would let the door behind this world be opened for me, that I may look past it to the world that reflects the Love of God and the Son of God. Behind every image made, the truth remains unchanged. Behind every veil drawn across the face of love, its light remains undimmed. Beyond all insane wishes is *my will*, united with the Will of my Father. God is still everywhere and in everything *forever*. And we who are part of Him will yet look past all appearances, and recognize the truth beyond them all.

Eckhart Tolle stole my Heart, I'am Just Live A Simple Life in The Here and Now. I Give Praise & Thanks that i have Read his Books and watch his Dvd's He is a wonderfull Person of Bliss
@michelangelocaravaggio26110 жыл бұрын
I've started getting into Tolle, largely through youtube so far, perhaps I'll end up reading his two books someday. If I had to summarize his philosophy in two words, I'd say he's a mental minimalist. His identification with attention, alertness, conscious awareness, "presence" or mental space as opposed to the thoughts, feelings and sensations within that space, or with memories, reason, ideas, emotions, etcetera, says a lot about his philosophy and his appreciation of emptiness, nothingness and simplicity. Just as our houses can be cluttered with too much crap, old crap, useless crap, crap that obstructs things, prevents new things from getting in their, so too can the mind be cluttered with biases, prejudices and negativity, sometimes we need to do psychic spring cleaning, let go of the past, future, live more in the present, that's how we learn, by paying attention as opposed to making all sorts of assumptions about how things are or should be. Nothing in excess, we need to think, but there is this tendency in many, if not all of us, to overthink, and let life, which happens in the present, pass us by, there is this tendency to plan too and overanalyze, and mankind would probably benefit from a little more presence. Space, whatever it is, if it is, that's a metaphysical question, physical space is more, or it's completely monolithic, so perhaps that's why Tolle associates compassion with identification with mental space as opposed to thoughts and feels, because our thoughts and feelings vary, where as space is uniform, so too identify with psychic space, is to make man uniform, so too love another, is no different than loving oneself. However, I'll have to think more about this, just as the space differs in physical rooms, it probably also differs in peoples heads, some may have more of it than others, and it may be shaped differently. Nothing in excess, eastern thought, Buddhism, Daoism and Zen in particular, not so much Hinduism and Confucianism, tend to emphasize minimalism, where as western philosophy and science tend to emphasize maximalism, more is more, you can never have enough information, knowledge, fuck, even material things, fame, fortune, wealth, power, pleasure... In the west, despite a few exceptional thinkers here and there, ambiguity, ignorance and mystery are derided, where as the east, they're celebrated. Both John Locke and Lao Tzu spoke of a Tabula Rasa, but with Locke and others, this is merely a starting point, this isn't a goal, but a means to an end, to do away with empirical and logical fallacies, to build knowledge on a firmer foundation, where as for Lao Tzu, the blank slate is the goal, to operate on instinct, or intuition, or to only have as many ideas as one needs.

I don't think philosophy is the point, and I don't think he is making a point. The questioner here throws away her questions. That's the message, and that's the experience. Zen can't be named. Etc.

"The essence of this room is not what's in it. The essence of this room is what enables the stuff to be in it. If the room discovers the its essence identity as space, then that would be awakening." Wow!

36:47 ... "Uuuuh *BURP* give me my iPad..." LOL. Eckhart's burp is so present and subtle, that he camouflages it during his explanations. Gotta love his techniques.

i so enjoy this Beloved one who has such truth and has walked the walk I beleive. One thing is for me the Ego is a wonderful tool and from my perception needs to be recognised in the essense of what it is. In my view you cannot get rid of the ego and nor should you. You are on this planet and need to function here also, the ego gets us to DO what is required here. The negative Ego however is something different. Loving the Neg ego is in my view a way to bring this more into a loving consciusness rather than a judgement. Lifting into the Higher Conscioiusness above the drama and the story is what we are learning. Always a choice. The neg ego of course wants to go into the judgments of what it thinks. Blessings to this Beloved I am grateful for his presence

I would like to recommend a book to everyone who likes Eckhart's teachings. It is called "The Present- Universal truth'' . Eckhart is amazing and this book confirms his sayings and makes everything perfectly clear. Peace :)
