Twilight *does* have a good universe and, had it been written as a paranormal thriller, would have gone down in history alongside The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones. And, you know, other Game titles. As it stands, though, it's poorly written romance with a super intriguing set of secondary/tertiary cast members and and unexplored hidden universe that only get to shine in either super chill scenes or super badass scenes. Even the Bella/Jacob/Edward dichotomy wouldn't be nearly as toxic had it only be purposely played as toxic.

What baffles me forever is how Bella really was conflicted on who to choose between Edward and Jacob, when all she had to do was take one look at Leah to know the possible outcome of her future if she chose Jacob. At the end of the day, Bella wasn’t Jacob’s imprint, and being with him would mean possibly losing him to someone else any time he went out to the store or to town. At least with Edward, she’d have stability and reassurance- at least after New Moon with Edward’s flighty bullshit leaving the chat.
