I grew up in Mysore and I still stay in Mysuru. Let me tell you that there is no part of people in keeping the city clean. People of mysuru is as ignorant as the rest of the country. It's just the discipline of corporation and the Civic workers's that has kept it clean.

Mysuru has been one of the cleanest City in India all along. People have inculcated this habit of keeping their surroundings clean for years. Doesn't matter what cleanest City ranking says. I visited it some 5 years ago. I guess aware citizens can always make a difference.

The sense of cleanliness has been woven into Mysoreans for centuries. We had been blessed with great rulers in the past who had worked towards the welfare of the people and have worked hard educating its citizens. If you look at the history of Mysore and it’s provinces, you will understand why people here are the way they are. The pace of life in Mysore is far slower than Bengaluru. This gives them the time to contemplate about what is more important in life unlike their neighbours.

More cities in India need to invest in this. Only then the cities will be clean. We should also build more of those garbage plants that train the garbage into electricity. The poor people who don’t have jobs and are willing to do this should be given this job. The government only cares about how they can keep Jammu and Kashmir and destroying Pakistan. And building statues.

What our Indian residential areas lack is big bins outside houses. I’ve seen this outside residential areas in Abu Dhabi. People go outside their house and dump it in the big bins which I’ve not seen here in India. First make us citizens do one simple thing, take garbage to the outside bin, only then we will be aware that it’s better to dump garbage in the bins rather than anywhere else on road which usually happens in small cities. I’ve seen educated people throw plastic bottles from their car here in Chandigarh and trust me CHANDIGARH is very clean!
