It seems that nowadays with the amount of products & sellers on etsy a new store's products stand little chance of being found & you're going to have to do your own marketing either way to drive traffic, whether you do Etsy or Shopify

Hannah do you do any face to face sales or events? If so do you use Shopify POS or Square? What do you do? I some craft fairs but not a big fan of the fact that Shopify doesn’t geo locate where your at for the sake of sales tax.

In my brands, I personally hold all my inventory and make items in house or make with an a production partner

Does Etsy have a rule against you sending material with the item that points the customers to your own website or have them sign up for email listings and whatnot so you can get their contact that way?

Apparently Etsy will not even show your products unless you have hundreds of listings and constantly post new products with the goal of having thousands of products. That is what the gurus say. If that is true, that’s ridiculous. If you sell even one product, that should be enough to attract the proper customers who are interested in that product. Is Etsy a good place for political/activist designs? I hear the Etsy demographic is mostly female, and it also seems the demographic is very milquetoast as they keep buying the same retro sun design over and over again. So I’m wondering if Etsy is even good for me.

@@EcomHannah I will check out some more of your videos. These are just the things I have heard generally from other peoples videos. That Shopify requires a large amount of ever increasing products and that the people who sell the most are selling in these areas like teachers and moms and dads and holidays with retro sun or other typical designs, and that these are the common things to be sold POD if you want to be successful.

@@automaton111 You have it backwards. it's platforms like Etsy, Amazon, Red Bubble that require a lot of listings. Shopify you have to do your own marketing. whether you have 1 product or 10000 products, you have to market it.
