Driving 'Moss' Daisy to the MoT station turns out to be a little more eventful that planned...
Edd China's Workshop Diaries 22: Driving 'Moss' Daisy to the MoT station & Fixing the wiring on a trailer & Adding some bling to the mezzanine.
With the filthy 4x4 out of the workshop I also take the opportunity to get some other jobs ticked off my ever growing list: I track down and fix a wiring issue on my car transporter trailer (a Brian James Race Transporter 6) and then I go upstairs to finish a job on my hang out space - the mezzanine's stainless steel balustrade.

Presumably a continuity error caused by shooting different segments on different days. I have been assuming that Edd is answering these messages in real time and then either he or or his editor is editing them into video that has been shot in the past. I am assuming he and his team are shooting out as much of a video as possible repairing a vehicle and ideally completing it and then cutting it up to make episodic TV mixed with sections waiting for the inserting of these Ask Edd questions So one question is: Is Edd actually reading all this verbiage or are they first being screened by a researcher? I throughly hope it's the latter and if so hello unknown researcher, thanks for doing a really thankless task, which is why I set all this comment, this way: So I could thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

10:31 I had a wiring issue on my trailer.. What ended up happening is I shorted some of the wires thru chafing (how oh how did I let THAT happen) but the Ford E150 van I have has SEPARATE fuses for the trailer circuits. Brilliant! That way you don't disable your vehicles turn - and stop - and running - lights if you short your trailer lights. All separated up at the fuse box.

@@leeneal6969 Rather pointed with your comments old chum .First I work in the city as a trader 25+ years and your trying to tell me that I'm wrong in my analysis of the motor industry and Government strategy! Here's a factoid for you the ASM recycling company at one location North of London receives on average 65cars a day every day for scrapping average age 5 to 12 years....not rusted not bashed not worn out..but electronically buggered . Now go and study the manufacture of Electronic components and speak to the boffins that make them you may not be surprised that the these are deliberately made to fail after a predetermined time. Electronic failure is the new rust . Yes if the part fails in an accessible place you can replace it....but surprise it's not but located in difficult locations that necessitates removal of dash of engine etc .Thus the labour cost outweighs the value of the car ,which is determined by the dealer network. Therefore most are scrapped at that point and the punter buys a another car. My own 2014 Mercedes 350 was traded in as the Electronics hidden under dash failed to remove the dash and ancillary items was over £ 4000 the car was valued at £ 7k so away it went to ASM maybe for parts who cares. So chum don't lecture me about the car industry and the Government so called strategy for the future its my job to know to and make" loads of money" for me and my clients .

The MOT-guy has far more than the license-plate to shake his head about. Given the state of the Rust-Rover, he might even end up getting a headache from all the head-shaking ;-)

be sweet revenge if vidal sassoon end up on the sponsors list, Edd really should do an entire 40 minute slot comparing the range of hair shampoos for men, could have a debate section about which hair shampoo Edd uses ... Dove for Men? sorry it's not really revenge, great show but the 'Tesla v (Johns) Range Rover race up a hill'' ... a bit naughty Edd

Why not change the transmission fluid again several times to flush out the contamination out of it?
@TheAndre8900
@TheAndre8900 2 жыл бұрын
Probably too late, too much grime ruined the clutch pack and slips causes the atf to overheat. Also, flushing causes more slippage.

@@TheAndre8900 my opinion is that it is a good idea to pull down the gear box and open up everything down to the last bolt and accurately clean it and put new oil fluid but it it will quite a job. Perhaps it will be more convenient to fetch a good second hand gear box...

@@TheAndre8900 I hope this does not sound a little rude but, are you a transmission rebuilder or expert?
@aljanat5375
@aljanat5375 2 жыл бұрын
@@paoloviti6156 Honestly better of out sourcing that to an expert unless Edd is a dab hand at transmission rebuilds. The synchro's are probably damaged and clutch packs may need some sort of fiddling or replacing, not that I have a clue what a clutch pack is. Gearstick and linkage assembly should also be taken out, wiped clean, checked for wear and re-greased if no welding, r-shaping or replacing is needed. Silly thing but the stick and mechanism may be more worn than the core of the transmission e.g. pinion gears etc. Not that Im an expert.

That 4 x 4 is mechanically fine, also he is allowing the smaller budget blokes and rural petrol heads a hand up when dealing with common issues in Range Rover ownership. That gearbox may of course be a bit worse for wear due to the chocolate sauce it was steeped in for an indeterminate length of time.
