People like fun cars and now that they’re made by Maserati the last 200,000 miles not to mention I daily drive a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with 164,000 miles that’s had one issue in the last four years. That’s because I don’t beat the jeep up off road like a lot of people do Why are we doing things like boring Hondas that sold 700,000 units a year they’re not even close to jeep sales. Brah, long term reliability is not a word. Its meaningless. People use that word but don't understand its meaning at all. A car will start to break down after 100k miles. 200k miles is way too much for a car anyways, and the cars made today should be ok for 300k.
@jimliu25604 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right! Reviewers nowadays even give “ reliability” tests on 1-2 year old cars..... how stupid is that? Also, the more “features” just means more “costly” repairs down the road! All these Reviewers are just pushing the price of cars up..... making them not affordable to working class people......if people want “features” in a car ........freaking buy a Lexus/BMW, etc......Leave the lower-end cars alone and affordable!

Realistically, I have never needed to use the touch screen in my Mazda CX-5. The scroll wheel is pretty much loosely based off of BMW’s iDrive format, meaning you can scroll and get around the menus quickly without touching the screen. Changing the radio or going to navigation/Bluetooth is a matter of a couple tactile clicks. Nobody is trying to type a destination with one hand while driving 80mph on the freeway anyways. You’ll be using CarPlay or have set a destination prior to driving.

I feel like the Rogue wasn't really given credit for all the features it packs in as well as essentially matching the CR-V for space and the CX-5 for quality and style in the interior. No mention of its fully digital gauges, heads up display, and it has a 3rd rear climate zone, which no other offers here. But somehow the CR-V comes out on top while feeling older and lagging in tech? I don't think drivability/performance should be ranked so highly here... the focus should definitely be more on ride quality in this segment. Sure the Mazda has a nice interior and drives sporty, but obviously cargo space and practicality are prime in this class, hence its much lower sales. I think the Rogue offers a balance of everything, yet, as noted overachieves in the interior and feature content... but somehow it's 3rd place?

@Naldynator4 жыл бұрын
Edmunds is notorious for its unabashed bias toward Honda and against Nissan. Their rankings and reasonings never make sense. I remember an old comparison of the Rogue vs CR-V where they praised the trunk of the CRV as "cavernous," but the Rogue's as "merely average" - when there was less than a cubic foot of a difference, and when the Rogue had the super convenient divide-n-hide shelving system and the CRV had nothing but a trunk. 😂 It's things like that and like this unexplainable comparison result, as many others, that clearly show their bias. Pay to play, maybe? It's known that Honda has a huge budget set aside for paying automotive authorities off and for keeping recalls and problems quiet.

I have the same exact Rav4 tested in this video and I must say, I highly disagree! The car is so much fun to drive and maybe the steering wheel felt stiff was because she had lane tracing and steer assist on, which really does make the steering wheel feel heavy when turned on! I only use lane tracing and steer assist on highways, and never on local roads. MPGs are amazing (averaging about 38MPG combined)!!! Overall, I had the choice of whether I should get the CRV or Rav4, and my decision was the best decision I've ever made!! Also found the suspension quite terrible, every bump was felt. So it was out. 3) RAV4 is a great car, but to get any of the nice features you have to go pretty high up the trim level, which prices itself out somewhat. I knew how to handle my trips on the interstate to L.A. and all the nuance with it. The RAV came nowhere near that level of drive predictability. The CX5 handles closer to a car and the drive always feels lively (even with the base engine). The only thing that feels off is the U-turn radius. My point, thank you for perfectly describing how the RAV feels: like asking a teenager to do a simple chore.

My choices based off of reliability and with the aid of the famous Scotty Kilmer’s, a famous mechanic who is also on KZbin, knowledge. Rav4 is #1, CX-5 is #2, CR-V is #3 but not in the long run because it’s a turbo with a small engine displacement (1.5L) and please do not choose the Rouge unless if you want to waste your precious money, it has major engine/transmission problems and it’s often refered to as an “endless money pit.” -Scotty Kilmer

The reviewers are spot on. The missus and I are Nissan-Honda lovers. We loved the performance of the CX-5. But we bought the CRV for it's roominess and comfortable driving + gas thrift. If you're a big guy and need driver room and leg space--definitely go for CRV. It's front seat space is cavernous! I don't know why the Toyota RAV4 is so popular. I took it for a couple of weeks-stint in the north of NZ's North Islands. It was ok. Not as roomy as advertised. But people are buying it like it's going out of fashion. If you want driving satisfaction, get the Mazda CX-5. It's not a sports car but over-taking while changing lanes will have you giggling. Driving, space and gas practicality? It's all CRV.

Honestly the Nissan Rogue is the nicest out of all of them. Honda is re-doing their CRV for 2023. And from what i've seen online i'm NOT impressed that they kept the same engine in a completely new vehicle from the ground up. BAD MOVE HONDA...!!! It needed far more HP & Torque. And the current 2022 CRV model looks nearly exactly like it did back in 2017 when it got it's first overhaul. So you really dropped the ball Honda on something that could have been great. Nissan on the other hand is really showing their in the fight too compete with the new 3cyl turbo. And it puts out slightly more power then the CRV. If the engine can stay reliable they'll have a winner on their hands. Because the styling alone is near perfect at least too me. And it's definitely on my short list of new SUV's.

I purchased a 2020 Mazda CX-5 a few months ago. I test drove all the vehicles in your comparison as well as the Ford Escape (minus the updated Rogue it wasn't out when I was looking). What I found is that I hate CVT transmissions...that squishy feeling when you try to accelerate is just not for me. I choose the Mazda because it had the nicest interior, very nice soft touch materials everywhere. It had a lot of great safety features. It was the most fun to drive (by a mile) and it had the nicest exterior styling (subjective I know). Now that I have owned it for a few months I will agree with you that the storage is lacking. The storage under the armrest is pretty small and outside of that you have an area to put your phone under the climate control area and the door pockets. That's about it. The lack of storage doesn't bother me much, but my wife never knows where to put her purse. Your complaint about the infotainment not being a touch screen while driving I think is unwarranted. That dial by the shifter is super convenient. All reviews should be done on base trims.
@thomasc17533 жыл бұрын
Totally disagree. I think reviews should be done through an entire model range... with price point segments/ranges to show value in 5k increments. The CX-5 Carbon Turbo, which I just bought after driving the 4 vehicles here in trim levels between 30 to 40k(ish)... as well as the newest Tucson & pricier Mercedes, BMW, Audi, & Volvo equivalents, absolutely crushed the other cars in terms of value for the money, quality materials inside & out, and driving experience. No comparison. At $33,335, I felt like I stole it. ^ My point is, without seeing reviews going through and comparing these different trim lines I would have just seen that the base model of XYZ won a comparison and (wrongly) assumed that was the best package all the way up the line. I would have missed out on the fact that, for not much more at all, a way better value was available with an engine, interior, and features that blow away anything else offered near the price point.
