Last year I had over 250 nights of waking up with leg cramps. The length and intensity were both reduced by cal/mag and water, as were the number of cramping events every night. In December I got a scratch on my left calf and I noticed that, after 3 weeks it still hadn't completely healed. Like for some reason my legs were healing more slowly. I began to test myself for sensitivity and blood flow on my toes and feet. I didn't find any such problem that might indicate a cause. Early February I spoke with 2 health professionals, one a physical therapist and the other a P. A. The consensus was that I should do more keeping my legs straight when I'm sitting and when I'm lying down, especially for sleep. This advice has reduced the number of leg cramps to less than 5 in the following 4 months! Whoa! And I have noticed that even when I drink less water or if I forget to take magnesium. Plus, I have completely stopped taking the calcium supplement, aside from the little I get on my daily multivitamin. This has completely shocked me, that I've been thinking all wrong about leg cramps, all this time. I'm not saying that you're information is wrong. But for me, it is. I've been watching your videos for years and your information has helped me understand how my body works and how to do better with proper nutrients. Thank you for being such a great source of quality health information. A few weeks ago I heard you talking about vitamin B1, thiamine which could help with minimizing waking up during the night and falling back to sleep faster. I started taking 500mg of thiamine last week and I am only waking up once a night now compared to being awake from one to three hours almost every night. Best advice ever!

You are so right Dr Berg. I put my son on strict keto. After a few weeks, he stopped nightly bed wetting. He still has accidents occasionally. On those days, it's usually because he's had some carbs or fruit late afternoon. Other times it's a complete mystery. Having to get up in the night is also a problem of mine... but I've been doing healthy keto for nearly a year, so how come? I've stopped drinking as much in the evening and am taking calcium lactate. Thomas delauer suggested taking a pinch of salt before bed and that seems to have helped. However, could somebody please tell him NOT to recommend chocolate before bed. I tried his chocolate moo moos the other night and guess what? I slept like @@@@! BTW for anyone who struggles to switch their brain off, I highly recommend Sleep Tube. The guy who creates the sleep music on there is a genius. Now I am able to stay asleep almost all through the night after suffering insomnia for 6 years.

I cheated a lot yesterday. Carbs galore. Almost zero sleep and reflux. I’d like to thank reflux for keeping me on keto. Never again will I eat, “normally,” save Christmas, Thanksgiving, and my birthday.

Its working, Doctor ✌️. The ideal of ‘keep cellphone away’ is working. It helped me to get a better sleep.

Thank you, Dr. Berg! Seems a lot of us are having trouble *staying* asleep.. Thanks to you, I added magnesium l-threonate which now helps me fall asleep, taking care of my anxiety! 🙌 However, even adding calcium (and potassium and additional magnesium) a week ago still hasn’t taken care of the leg and foot cramps and spasms that either awaken me night-after-night, or keep me awake. How much is enough or too much? I’m very interested in your thoughts as to whether or not the RDA’s of these-and of other minerals and vitamins-are really enough to sustain good health (rather merely keep us alive). Thank you very much for sharing your expertise with us every day! ! You must put in a TON of work doing this, and you are appreciated! 😀

#9 interruptions to your circadian rhythm. Different times during the night major organ system regenerate. What time you awaken every night is indicative of which system is not functioning properly.

My sleep is horrible. I get maybe 3 or 4 hours. 😫 I do healthy keto thanks2 Dr. Berg. I'm off my diabetic medicine And yes my sugar readingis are always off the chain the next day if I eat out. So if I know family is going out I make something that really looks good and sometimes they never make it out the door.🤗💖

I’ve been doing keto for about two months and loss 35lbs, and my girlfriend says I don’t snore anymore. As well if I don’t have on my cpap she doesn’t hear the apnea issue where I stop breathing.

After eating out I rarely fall asleep. I have noticed calcium supplements help a lot. I don’t consume dairy and if I miss calcium supplement even one day, I don’t sleep at all that night

Just woke up from the worst sleep ever. Anyone else have trouble sleeping while intermittent fasting? I ate my last meal at 6pm and was hungry by bedtime (11pm) and it kept me tossing and turning all night fighting the hunger. I want to go to bed with an empty stomach because it’s supposed to be the best rest for you but that’s not what I experienced.

I find that when I don't eat enough vegetables throughout the day, when I don't move enough (strenuous exercise) during the day and when I eat out, I don't fall asleep well

What is the solution for waking at 3:00 or 4:00 am every morning? I fall asleep quickly at 10:30 pm, but can’t get back to sleep after about five hours of sleep. I am very conscientious about diet, exercise, etc.
