Listening closely to words is a very powerful one. For those who don’t get it, pay attention to the word and the real meaning behind that word, think about the sounds that that word produces and notice that words are just a way of the mind to communicate with the external. After that just take a moment to appreciate your ability to understand words and to relate them to sounds. Do that specially when you’re reading and you’ll notice how you learn better when you do that.

I think listening is the easiest way to bring your mind back to the present because sounds are changing every second. If you just put your awareness on sound it minimises the amount of thoughts you have and makes you more aware of them because they arent constant.

What's interesting is that I never thought I was practicing being present until I first saw a video some time ago of how important it is. As a young girl who used to practice martial arts, my father being my sensei at that time was always drilling in my head to always stay in the present to allow myself to flow, see clearly, and have a sense of when and where to strike without thinking too much. When I am not in our dojo, I remember I was around five years old, I sometimes have the habit of spacing out observing the details of the room, how the small dust particles floating on air are visible because of the sun rays during mid-afternoon, how the late afternoon wind breeze feels on my skin and how it carries the scent of the tall grasses outside our house, how my skin is forming the shape of what I touch, and my mind was sound that I can wait for my thoughts to come through. Whenever I am faced by a situation, I know when to focus on the details, the big picture or both, if a problem is solvable today or wait for the solution to come to me and many other things and I felt happy doing this. I genuinely thought I was a strange kid though because none of the kids arounds me didn't seem to have that kind of awareness, I felt they don't. And I was often left behind. I literally ask myself why am I different. Even the habit of imagining having another self observing me while having a conversation with someone. It's actually a thing and I only learned about it in college. I thought I was hallucinating. Well, technically, I am but, for the good so I just kept doing my thing. I like videos like this because it makes me feel that I am doing the right thing and knowing that other people would love to have this as a habit makes me want to come out and look for people struggling and guide them towards a better version of themselves. If I managed to do it so naturally others could do it, too, by starting with building your awareness of the smallest things. It all starts there.

I think that you are not that present as you think. You said that you are almost 100% present in everything you are doing. Then you said that you were thinking about what if you are the only one like that and why people look at me weird. If you are present as you are saying, you wouldn't have time to even think about what other people think because you would do your actions, be present in it and you wouldn't care what other think. I think you are overthinking like every other human being on the planet. It's absolutely impossible to be present all the time because even if you think "oh wow, I am present now", that is a trap and means you are refering to pas when you actually were present but not anymore.

I come from India and currently study and been living in germany since 1.5 years. Back when I was in India I used to kinda be acting like a kid about having the heritage of Yoga, Mediatation and All the philosophie in Hinduism, Buddhism being originated in my country. Now, finally after seeing the world I realized...no one owns any philosophy all we can try to do is follow it..and everyone's mind is equally shattered by the stress and sorrow of the modern era and that he who walks the path of mastering the mind is the ultimate companion in this tiny enlightened community for the global citizens like us.

For those trying number 6, awareness of silence, an old tip is to think of silence as the empty space behind the dots of sounds. One day in the countryside, you will see that even there nature is full of sounds, then silence is the empty space behind the sing of the birds and insects, behind the sound of the wind. It's like seeing a street in the rush hour, you will see lots of cars but under them you focus on the street that they pass. Hope it helps! =)

Wow. Little did I know that I have been doing these stuff all the while. I began to isolate myself as I was overwhelmed by the outside world. This led me to focus on myself and this got stronger till the point of my raise in consciousness. But warning: this is not for the faint of heart. This stuff will literally change your life, external and internal. So be prepared for the changes if you want to follow it.

I’ve found that when you actively decide to let your thoughts flow away like in meditation, they sit in your subconscious. Instead of answering that question, or pondering that thought during that moment, your subconscious will handle it by applying the things learned from being present. Learning to trust the power of subconscious thought is powerful.

What I rely on is awareness. Where I am I consciously get totally part of the place in awareness. That is done by me giving my entire attention to take time in looking and noting the details. Time given to that gives "dimension" all in becoming part of it. My thoughts become based on the locale and see the way it is or the beauty in it. Feeling gratitude of both man made and Natural environment and even I express to myself seeing and feeling the gratitude with breathing. Ideal places are in Nature, parks... The beauty of trees, birds, lakes, waterfronts, and hearing the sounds around me. I love the outside for the blue sky or the clouds or rain... and the beauty of rugged and landscaped views. When I'm indoors, I focus on what I'm doing with great attention. I love cleaning and washing dishes as best with attention enjoying the break. Seen one video of Tolle demonstrating just the process of drinking a glass of water near him. He picked the glass suggested full attention looking at it and wondering how water was and its qualities... and enjoying drinking it in sips. I eat fruits in the same way now admiring at the beauty and design of grapes. That kind of attention brings presence in the moment of any such activity. When one pays attention with thought to any activity while in the process of doing, it is presence and adds to the joy of living rather than succumbing to mindless irrelevant thoughts especially when they are also negative.

I find touch to be very important. I spend time moisturizing my body after my bath. I sometimes massage some areas, or let the fingers glide. This helped me during my depressed days (a way of not losing connection with my body), and during my long work days where I remnd myself that I'm enough.

Thank you so much. I struggle with social anxiety and listening to what people say during a conversation really helps me to reduce stress connected with talking to people. Also, i forget less of the conversation and I'm much more satisfied of it. I am really, really thankful of your advice.

Recently discovered your channel, and i really like the what you are doing! I had heard of some of these, but two of them surprised me. The "What will your next thought be" blew me away. I don't really have words for it. And the one where you listen to words struck deep. I have always heard that you have to listen to what other people are saying, but i never really considered that you actually have to make a real effort to listen, and to really listen very carefully. People usually say, that you just have to be an active listener, but it's not that simple. Sometimes, you can hear another persons words going through your mind, while nothing really happens which leads to you just staying there. But the way you explained this tip really made me think (i have also always been shy and have had at least a bit of some kind of social anxiety). Thank you for sharing these ways of entering the present moment. I think it could benefit everyone to do this more.

Glad to see the "what will you next though be?" did its thing :). I get what you're saying about listening, though. In my experience it's more like a listening let the other person's words naturally evoke words in my own mind. When I'm too much focused on what I'm going to say myself, I'll just lock at some point because of confusion.

@ About listening, I think I remember Jordan Peterson saying, that he, in conversations, listens to the other persons words and just wait for thoughts to come to him (instead of thinking about what to say when the other person is talking) - in this sort of meditative way. I feel like it's a very good way to have a conversation. And as you mentioned, it also helps with not getting locked up in your head.

"Allah is the arabian moon god" LMFAO bro, what anime are you watching? The standing principle of islam is that Allah is God, the words mean exactly the same thing. The moon, the Sun, and everything else is a slave of God, willing or unwilling. If one worships the moon, he / she is not muslim. It's the first and highest fundamental aspect of Islam that Allah / God has NO image, NO equal, NO comparable object in the universe. Not any person, not the moon, not a quasar nor any neutron star. Every other name you mentioned, the religious followers attribute to a human, living person, thus they are not, and cannot be God according to Islamic theology. I wish you well in hopefully educating yourself further, your ignorance only hinders you, friend.

A good way that I am using recently is to basically narrate what you are doing at the present moment in your mind or out loud, whatever suits you. Example: ''I am typing a comment on KZbin right now and I am surrounded by wealth.'' You basically are staying in the present moment, thinking about what you are doing, and get an affirmation thrown in there at the same time.

things I do to stay in the present moment are focus on and feel the vibrating energy that makes up my body (we are energetic beings after all) and also focus on the empty space that all matter exist in or focus on the silence that sound comes from and dissipates back into.
