The enemy who drops the flame spear ash of war, also drops a helmet that has a small bonus to "fire knight skills" my testing says 10% damage but I could be wrong. It 100% works on flame spear and flame skewer- not sure about redmane etc etc. I think we'll see a lot of it in pvp when people find out. There's actually a lot of helmets that give lesser talismmen like buffs in the dlc, most of which hinder your flasks or lower your status resistances ^ this one does not. Just a flat bonus to your ash. As one of the comments said ↓ the regular fire enemies in the shadow keep have a chance at dropping their helmet too. Although it looks goofy, it gives a minor FAP ring boost, it gave me around 11 health and stamina, and 6.7 equip load. (60 vigour, 35 endurance). (I think this design changed is interesting, you can tell more about a player's build off of their armour and weapons just at a glance, more than you could do in previous titles anyway. Wonder if people will adopt the stat boosting armours or ignore it entirely) I'll update this if I find any more relevant stat-armours in the dlc

In terms of damage, the lightning bottle can one shot some of the bosses in the dlc. There´s a video of a guy killing the final dlc boss in less than 15 seconds with it. Dunno if it´s viable in pvp though.

Personally I've found the backhand blade to be very strong, Blind Spot AoW can counter most attacks an enemy can do, while the likely roll away after you poke them with that can be caught with the very strong running attacks it has. Very fun on an assassin cosplay too! Keen to see you try it in invasions.

Hey Chase I've been invading with the Star-lined sword with the new spell Gravitational Missile, and they feel so right for each other, the sword applies a lot of pressure and the missile can either be shot straight forward for area denial or aimed at the ground or a wall for an immediate explosion! One of my favorite builds for invasions and I'd love to see what a PvP master would do with a similar build

It's just straight up the best colossal sword in the game even once they'll remove the true combo. Godslayer R1s, Zwei R2s and matches GUGS in damage once you buff it since thanks to the innate fire damage not all of it will get negated by flat defense.

Have you tried out the Lizard Greatsword yet? It's one of the new imp drops and it's the claymore moveset but the swings do strike damage and the R2 stabs fire out a projectile (which yes, can build status if the sword is attuned for it) it is *hilarious*, especially because the R2's can double-hit because of the projectile

It doesn't work nearly as well as you think. Not only can the invader tell who the host is by the names as they're summoned in, but a host with a rune arc active will have a symbol next to their name that gives it away. Really, the trick mirror's purpose is nothing more than drip.

Hey, Chase, you should check the Sword of Night out. It has an uncharged weapon skill to uncharged r2 true combo (this also works with the charged skill.) The combo deals, like, 1500 damage with the stats I have at +9.

You are correct that Heavy has the most on-paper attack power when buffed with some Grease, but Flame Art lets you use the weapon with an offhand Seal for casting things like Fire Serpent and Catch Flame, and the follow-up attack of Flame Skewer and the projectile of Flame Spear scale with your Faith, meaning they'll do less damage on a Strength build than they would on a Faith build.

I use this sword occasionally in PvP, but what I really enjoy it is that I bully the Tree Sentinels (2 in a row) with this sword. I parry them first then I follow-up with this light attack and they got staggered. It's really satisfying.

Chase, this actually isn’t the best way to build it. Make it flame art and scale it with faith. Fully buff stacked, mine gets to almost 2k attack rating. If you read the description, it says fire infusion will bring out further power, and they aren’t kidding :)

I was playing this earlier today and saw that if you play it as a 22str / 18dex / 60fth and use the flame skewer weapon art with the flame art aspected so it gets B faith scaling the AR goes absolutely through the roof - the fire damage is disgusting while buffed from flame skewer alone, using oath on top is just absurd.

There’s something real weird going on with the motion value of the 2H attacks. Even with Flame Art and 25str, where 2H only increases AR by 4 points, the 2H attacks do about 18% more damage compared to 1H. I think this makes Flame Art the best infusion

I was screaming at chat to suggest it while watching XD It's SO good, I had cold infused it and was swapping between that and the Great Katana at that point. Haven't tried PvPing it yet; finishing off everything I might have missed before going into the Messmer fight.

Hey Chase! You should try using the shriek of sorrow AOW. It's very powerful, giving you a massive damage buff when using the skill with low health

You were supposed to bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness! Also, if I may make a suggestion. Can you try some of the new talismans out? I found out Godfrey’s Axe counts as both a roar and a stomp now so the unique heavy attacks after the ash can be boosted by the stomp talisman, the roar talisman, and the two handed talisman. Alternatively, would be really cool to see a storm build. I know theres a new curved greatsword with a storm skill even if I havent gotten to it myself, and it should get boosted by the Dancing Lion Helm, the Storm talisman from the dancing lion boss soul, and shard of Alexander. Combine that with a side arm that packs the Storm Blade Ashe, and it might be neat.

Chase, Chase, Chase, Chase. Hear me out. Smith script weapons. The axe can be thrown while jumping and moving. You can ran at an enemy throwing axes and jump away throwing axes. Its crazy, you can also put an ash of war on it. Its part of my spartan build using the spear and the lion roar shield. And perfumed Oil of Ranah, it comes out way faster than you think, has massive aoe hits hard and scales off Dex.

Can you make a video using the Reflecting Hardtear? It makes your block work exactly like a sekiro parry and i havent seen anyone using it

If you infuse it with flame the flame dmg gets giga increased. I have been using this throughout my playthrough not knowing it was this broken but my AR is really really high. over 1200 at 150 with 50 faith. Super fun
