@@ThePedro1664 sorry for the delay, never received a reply notification. Honestly enjoying the car, only had a couple minor issues. Rear wiper scratched the glass so they replaced both parts. The Sterring column developed a click and was replaced. The common issue I had was a BMS update (which has now been resolved) which caused it to not balance or correctly charge up. I had to go through winter with up to 70miles max range by the end of it, once it was patched out I've had nothing but happy motoring. It's also been reasonably cheap to charge, It's cost around £470 to do 12,000 miles (3.9p per mile). I have found it to be the perfect commuter car to go back and forth to work with the shop runs added in. My daily drive is a 45mile round trip and with the nice summer weather I can go almost 4 days between charges, IF i avoid the motorway.

I test drove the excite version yesterday. I was pleased with the external finish, gaps in panels were good & door closing matched my Mercedes for satisfying sound. Interior finish is fine. I don’t have any issues with hard plastics, this is a car designed for families, it must be durable. The drive was superb, quiet, smooth & no rattles or squeaks. The steering was a little too light for my taste but it does mean effortless driving. The car would have been better with paddles rather than the kers switch but no complaints about the regenerative braking at all, just need the brake to stop the car creeping & once stopped it enters auto hold automatically. I’m old enough to remember the first Japanese imports & the concerns that motorists had about them & even high end German cars are made in several countries these days. Final point. MG are making their own batteries & a facility will be in the UK so if the worst happens the battery wont need to be sent abroad. The decision to continue to purchase was easy for me & my needs.
@andrewwhaley76395 жыл бұрын
Agree on the paddles, those 3 buttons (mode, kers and battery) are unnecessarily hard to find when you're driving. Regen seems a thing you're going to constantly want to adjust dependent on driving conditions i.e. low on the motorway and high around town. Overall I didn't like the instrument layout and thought the main screen was too low down. Great drive though.
@michaelsummers95795 жыл бұрын
Andrew Whaley I didn’t try main screen I was really focused on drive & finish. Most sat navs take a while to fire up & I noted James Coates said once running it was ok. It might be worth noting that I believe that these demo cars may be in need of the software update being applied to cars coming into country. In any case Apple car phone & Waze will do for me in the NAV department. Overall, for the money I thought it was pretty good.

I think the MG has the “reputation” that the likes of Skoda had until 2002 with the Octavia launch, or later still the Hyundai. Nobody is laughing now. They are all brilliant cars and, I think MG will replicate their achievements.
@abucken5 жыл бұрын
Just thought this was worth a comment, i recently test drove the MG and was impressed with the quality of the car, as you say it's a very keen price. I was drawn to the MG because of the ridiculous price of the Leaf. My existing Leaf pcp ends in February, the MG dealer tells me there is 1000 MG's arriving in the UK in November followed by another 1000 in February. The dealer has taken a look at my Leaf and i'm waiting for a quote. Bear with me this gets interesting. So the other day i got a call from the Nissan dealership asking what my intentions were at the end of the pcp, i'm considering buying an MG went down well. After several phone calls and emails i've been offered a leaf n connecta for less than the MG, they said it's a loyalty bonus scheme and i've haven't signed the paperwork yet but somehow they have managed to come up with a set of numbers that beats the MG. So i have a Leaf n connecta on order for delivery mid November. I thought this was worth posting because there are probably many people in my position that are disregarding the Leaf because of the stupid list prices however i think the dealers know that to keep customers heavily discounted deals need to be on the table.

Something similar happened to me too. They ended up offering a 40kwh Tekna for £25k but with a significant bump in my old Leaf Trade in. Only downside is lack of cooling on the Leaf battery. I’d also say at least on the Tekna that the ‘toys’ and finish in the cabin is a step up from the MG. Saying all that Nissan should be worried!

It’s to physically and audibly display the quality of the materials used, and if it’s a hard plastic or a soft plastic. As a car consumer, I like to know where the manufacturer has saved money, and having materials used that are not appropriate for the price of the car is important. A bargain basement car that has a really lux interior and every bell and whistle possible, should be a major red flag to a potential buyer. Where DID they cut corners? Because they had to cut somewhere or they’d be out of business yesterday. And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have a slightly Walmart dash than a Walmart transmission, cooling system, etc.

Test drove one on Sunday and put a deposit down on Tuesday. First EV. Some bits are obviously built down to a price but a lot felt decent and it was a really nice drive. The size for the money, with a flat floor in the back particularly, and the opening sunroof really made it for me. Ideally I'd like more range but it'll only be an issue for me once in a blue moon and in a year or two we'll probably have a longer range EV in the family too. I can't actually get a proper insurance quote at the moment, as it's not actually listed on anyone's systems. Hopefully that will be rectified before the, likely February, delivery. Can anyone recommend a good charge point installer? Need one with a tethered cable and a built in charge timer. Ideally not one where I have to pay for an app. Thanks for a good review.

I test drove the more basic Excite last Saturday (5th Oct 2019) and agree totally with this review. I ordered an Exclusive in red. I'll coming from a Nissan Quashqai+2 with a 2L diesel, about 6.5 years old and is a ten year old design. The MG is better in every way except maybe for the speakers on the MG being a bit weak (though I did drive the excite not the exclusive).

Hi, thanks for your video, really enjoyed it and its has made me happier about my preorder. But It's a shame they gave you a pre production car to test. I understand the infotainment system has had some updates to improve it in the production cars and there's rumoured other changes to the performance of the car and charging. 45k views that's not bad for an MG car.

Missed two important points - the 7 year warranty and the fact that the boot floor has two positions, you can see the two black brackets at the boot sides in the shot, and can be raised several inches from the one shown. Personally I prefer the lip to a flat floor - too many times chasing bottles and cans that drop out when you open the tailgate of an estate car! Great for what is lets not forget - a cheap, family car. SAIC Motors have been making cars for years and make VWs for China amongst others. A lot of us have fond memories of the old British MGs so I don't see that as a handicap at all, even though we know it is a totally different company.

If this car turns out to be reliable (good battery, no mechanical problems, etc), people who want to electric will definitely check this out and, thanks to the incentives, savings and, the most important, infrastructure, will have a great chance to close the deal. Way better than buy a used car for 20k.

@@ElectricVehicleMan Out of interest, I have a 7 year old MG6 Magnette, one of the 'new' MGs. I know that there have been a lot of naysayers about the cars, but my car has been a joy. Nothing has failed or dropped off. The 'cheap' trim (which frankly isn't) is still looking good. There are no squeaks or rattles, and the paintwork gleams . I am told that that the newer 3s, ZSs and forthcoming cars are even better. I would have no hesitation in buying another MG.
