Looks great, will we see them for sale here Sam? Also I am looking to buy a new EV in 2025, are there only certain models and certain battery types that can feed back into the grid and be used a home battery storage as well?

@3:40: 1700 kg is _not_ 'very very light'. Maybe for an electric SUV it is relatively light. But on itself, it can't be called 'very very light'. I once had a Citroën AX, which was 674 kg, if I'm not mistaken. And it would get to 170 km/h, which is enough for where I live.

Lo and behold - a price war initiated by Toyota. Let's go Toyota. I bet it's more of a mechanical machine rather than feature loaded.

Margins for all electric cars are going to be much smaller than people expect and very quickly so I think that's something people need to kind of wrap their heads around

First time I've asked this question of any EV car, probably because it has the Toyota badge even though it's not - but... What price in the UK I wonder??

If Toyota decided to keep/restore a presence in the Chinese car market, I'm not sure they have a choice but to compete in the current battle. It doesn't seem to make sense, and they probably conceded more on price than necessary, but long-term (if they survive) it may pay off after a market adjustment, which is inevitable. The alternative is to down-size considerably and firm a new plan, but it's all a gamble. It will be interesting to watch this strategy play out over time. Great for customers, in the meantime, as mentioned by Sam.

I taught both my elves how to surf , their first wave was Puerto Rico. Keep the faith. Still a big fan of the channel even though I'm out of Tesla as a shareholder for now. Toyota has been nuts not just on this decision - but for like, the past two years? I thought getting rid of their CEO would've helped but no. If Toyota is making money on a 14k EV like this I will eat my hat.

You mentioned previously BYD putting pressure on supply chains to cut costs. They knew Toyota wasn't going to just sit back and die. Toyota has one of the strongest brands in the world. This is a reestablishment of that.

That’s the export price. The low price is inside China, before all those tariffs get added by the importing country.

The price is good. too good. either they are selling this at a huge loss or they cut corners to make it or both. either way, it is unsustainable in the long run, which is NOT what you want because you would want the company of the car you bought to last for parts and maintenance. too many chinese buyers have ended up suffering financially after buying such "cheap" EVs because the companies who manufactured them either closed or have unacceptable after market support. these kinds of EVs are white elephants. buy at your own risk.

The reason they have to undercut everyone is so that people will associate electric vehicles with Toyota quality. They have to do this to get into the game.

Just saw the first electric vehicle on my small island (Bohol) in the Philippines. A Nissan Kicks e-power. Have you made a video about this vehicle? I know nothing about them.

Companies will be paying hefty fines in the EU based on their average emissions per car sold. Toyota need to lower their emission average. I don't think it's necessarily their global sales though.

So Australia don’t get the 3. We get the 4. Which is $80000 for the AWD. Which sounds like a rip off to me.

They should stick to PHEV which is actually cheaper to own than EV. Based on California energy prices anyway.
