Awesome demo. \m/ I’ve had this pedal and it’s got some really cool sounds. I personally like the crayon side of this pedal. It’s warm and heavy sounding. I’m thinking about buying this pedal again.

This just might replace the combo of the Bass Soul Food and Low Blow I have now. Two overdrives that can each go from very subtle to screaming on their own, with a usable EQ section to shape the distortion, and a dry blend. And at a used price cheaper than the Low Blow.

I'm not a big fan of the Soul Food but I am not familiar with the Low Blow. The Hot Wax is one of my favorite EH pedal and one of my favorite distortion period, I used it on dozens of gigs and always loved it. Very versatile and tasty.

@@BassStuff I hear ya. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Hot Wax, and in fact just gigged it for the first time this past weekend, using the Hot Tubes to do what the BSF was doing, a "not quite clean" vintagey flavor reminiscent of an Ampeg fridge pushed right to the edge. I still need to play with the Crayon side, for what I'm playing ATM it'll probably end up a clean boost to send the HT over the top. The BSF isn't a bad pedal, I loved the mid-forward growl it gave, it was just really finicky about breakup and very rig-dependent, not having quite enough dirt for some setups. It found a new home on my guitar board doing the same Klonish thing the guitar Soul Food would, but with the option of rolling in a little clean tone. Zero complaints there.

@@leonidis6225 You definitely want sim, whether a pedal appears to contain it or not.

So as you said you would just use a compressor and run it onto the input of this not after.

Really depends on the tone you are going for. If you want the full transient to distort the HotWax put the comp after but if you go hard on the distortion, you will probably dont need a comp. The comp is always my first pedal in my board, just to shave 2-3 db and give a little weight and life before anything else.

@@BassStuff what compressors do you find work well for you? I play allot of post hardcore, prog rock/metal stuff. I’ve never used one before and am wondering if not playing live anymore if it’s a tool to look into? Just getting into long distance recording with some old band buddies.

@@hotwater8473 My go to pedal comp live is the Diamond BCP1. One of my all time favorite for everything. I have a lot of bass player friends loving it too. I really like the Bass Cali76 too. Probably better for heavier stuff.

​@@hotwater8473 Maybe yes. I sometimes use a DI to have the bass dry and an amp signal with a comp or a drive.
