Just started doing this one as I am making my way through all the videos. I am really pleased with my results after only 3 months using polinas methods and I notice the feel of my face improved before anything else. My face feels much plumper and softer. More “padding” in my cheeks which I was after. The skin isn’t as loose and much more lifted and my lines are so much softer now but I’m going to keep improving them. I do an all over face routine once a day and also do one, sometimes two of the short videos to target specific issues. I also do a short face massage one before I go to bed. It really is worth putting the time in. I’m glad I found your channel Polina because your face yoga is really working for me without putting too much stress on the muscles. I have a two day break where I just do a short daily massage just to let my face rest. I have tried many other KZbin videos but now I just stick with this one. I think once you have found one that you feel comfortable with it’s not worth using any others. I actually feel very calm while watching her too because she is has a lovely soft voice and I feel so calm and relaxed after her sessions. I have listed below an example of a routine I am finding is really working for me. ❤ Face firming exercises in your 50+ (I do this one every night before bed. It’s about 30 minutes but worth it) Face yoga for lip and mouth lines (This is one of the shorter videos I do in the morning before I have applied my serum. Only 10 minutes and this really is a good workout. Gua sha massage for forehead lines ( only a short video about 7 minutes and I do this a few times a week) sometimes I will pick another short video instead targeting the eyes. Again I do this in the morning after applying serum. Then every day before bed after my face firming exercises I do the face firming massage for midlife skin. This really is great, relaxes you and again only 7 minutes. I also like this channel because polina isn’t constantly trying to sell something and ask for money every five minutes. You choose her channel because she is a great advert for the exercises she is teaching you and she definitely knows her stuff!!! If you want something that actually works and is nice and relaxing too, stick with this channel ❤

I’m curious what is the purpose of pressing the fingers against the skin in the first few exercises. I’m not sure I’m doing it correctly. Is it to hold the skin and prevent it from creasing? Is this a stretch or muscular contraction? In other words, would it not be as effective if one were to just smile widely? Thank you

Thanks for your question and for watching the video 💆♀ the fingers are there to provide a point of reference from where to move the muscles. This is not a stretch or pull with the fingers, they mark the start point of the cheek contraction in the directions shown. If you were to start smiling, other muscles will also engage such as eyes and smaller cheek muscles. What we're doing here is isolating specific cheek muscles, and engaging them consciously. Hope this helps! 😀

The only way I can do this exercise is if I lift with my finger pads to make that smile. Hi Sana, thanks for your question 🌸 At the beginning when the muscles are not used to this work, it will feel they are not moving at all so what you're describing is very normal. Pushing the muscles with your fingers pads is fine to get your started initially, and as the muscles get stronger you will rely less and less on the fingers and will feel gentle contraction in the cheek muscles themselves. Just try to tune in and visualise the cheek muscle movement in your mind, to better connect to them. Thanks for practicing with the video ! 💆♀✨🌸

Out of the poses you mentioned, only the air shift from side to side is directly working all of the cheeks@@rezwanamahboob2938. Hi Eden, we are not pressing or using acupressure techniques per se in this video. I think you mean when we hold the fingers pads on the cheeks and move the cheek muscles from the points of touch. Please note we're not pressing the finger pads into the face at all, the fingers are there just to tell the cheeks from where to move. Please adjust the pressure to very light almost featherlight when doing the exercises, it should definitely not be painful! And if it's still painful, please stop the techniques and I would suggest tension release for the face, you can follow along with one of my tension release videos to help you. Also, please breathe deeply throughout, as sometimes we hold the breath when focusing on the moves, which would make the pulse and heart rate go up!

Thanks for your question and I’m happy to answer 😊When we touch the face with the fingertips, it’s slightly easier to engage the cheeks muscles because the fingerpads provide a tactile clue from where we should move the muscles. Smiling and snarling happens naturally as a result of us engaging and lifting the cheek muscles. do let the fingertips move with the muscles and the skin, we’re not tying to pin down the muscles in one place with the finger-pads. Hope this helps !

Thanks for your question @Eapea. We don't really squeeze the muscles, think of it more as engaging muscles in isolated way, as described in different sections (low, mid and upper cheeks). The purpose of finger placements is to be able to engage the muscles individually from the point of touch (the muscle attachment/insertion), to avoid compensating with other surrounding muscles. Since we are working with at least three different cheek muscles, the fingers help us to isolate just one specific muscle group at a time. Touching the muscle with our fingers established a better mind to muscle connection, allowing for better muscle engagement. Hope this helps! Polina

Hi Eleniel, thanks for your comments. If you're not getting any results from face yoga, there could be several things, one of them is your technique and form. What type of exercises are you doing? and are you training with one yoga coach or trying on different styles ? usually you'd see some results after a few weeks and better results with consistent practice within 4-6 months. If you don't see results, I would recommend working with a face yoga practitioner one on one to get your muscle engagement and form checked.

Hi Janet, these are not the easiest exercises but if you stick with this it will make a difference. Do use your finger pads to push the cheek muscles initially, until they gain strength and you gain connection to them. I agree with your comment below that we all want to look our best and why not?😀 especially when we know that every time we spend even 10-15 minutes looking after our face and our beauty, we are giving ourselves time and space just for us, to love, nurture and care for ourselves amidst the busy-ness of life 🌸✨

That's not what they wish for, after all any progress photos they take is surely for their own reference, as they don't have to prove anything to anyone, just being happy with their own progress is enough. If you're talking about my personal before and after photos, well you have my face to look at, especially so close up in this video so you can make your own judgment. Just to clarify I have never had issues with my face volume so the 'before' picture would look exactly like the 'after' picture in this particular case. Having said that, and I assume you're interested in the face volume topic & techniques otherwise you wouldn't be commenting, I would welcome with open arms any of the public's before and after photos, so if you are willing to give these techniques a go and share your progress photos, I would be very happy to hear of it ✨

It really depends on each person and the extent of ageing in the cheeks and face. 4-6 weeks you should be able to observe improvements if exercises are done correctly. I have a whole section on the eyes, you will need to work on eye forming and cheek toning combined to see improvements in downturned eyes, and for downturned mouth corners, I have a specific video in the Low face section 🌸 hope this helps :)

Hi Danni, thanks for your feedback. Smiling is an unconscious muscle movement in response to emotion, what we are doing here is a conscious engagement of the cheek muscles which looks like a smile when we perform the exercise but originated from the cheek muscles engaging. All you need to do it to visualise the direction of lift and connect your mind and attention to the cheek muscles, as you're lifting them (muscle isolation). It will look like a smile but there will be more conscious contraction of the cheek muscles, you will be lifting from the cheek muscles and not mouth corners. I hope this helps.

Consistency is everything with face exercise, so doing little and often is best - 5-6 times a week until you see the results, and after that 3-4 times a week. Once you learn the techniques, they don't take long time to do 🌸

Yes various studies have been done to show the effectiveness of face yoga especially when it comes to improving the volume in upper and mid cheek sections of the face, overall knocking 3 years off the appearance. There's plenty of material on the internet if you wanted to delve deeper into the studies and the results. The only way to find out for yourself is of course try the exercises and see how they work for you :) Polina

Hi there, let me clarify - you're trying to contract your cheek muscles, the fingers are there just to provide a point from where you pull up the cheek muscles. You're not pushing the lips up. There is no pressure or excessive pressing down with the finger pads, you only use them to provide a point from which to lift the muscles, so essentially you are lifting up the muscle from the points of touch. Follow my directional cues in the video to know in which direction to lift, there are subtle differences depending on 1-4 lines of lift and yes you end up slightly varying the smile depending on which direction you are lifting, but it’s only a subtle difference. Main focus is on feeling the lift in each muscle and in each direction of the lift. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your comment, what I think you’re referring to is skin and fascia tightness over the top of the head ? If so, you can check out my earlier video called Smooth Forehead tension release and there are some techniques in there that will be helpful for releasing tension in the skin of the scalp. Thanks for your question🌸 I believe you're referring to sunken cheeks. There's a specific exercise to fill out the sunken areas on both cheeks, mostly working intra-orally (with hands inside the mouth as resistance). You need to build up the back of the cheeks, the areas that have sunk. It's not possible to explain on here, and almost warrants its own video!

Hi there, thanks for your question. You’re just holding the fingers, not resisting with them. This is so that your cheek muscles can contract from where you’re holding them with your finger pads, it gives better muscular connections (than if you were not holding fingers on the face at all).
