1k+ hours since before the cap on missions. With all the new updates since I started playing giving all noobs auto landing/take off and their own protection area pretty much helps. I would say for new comer get elite dangerous horizon to see if you like the game. It's a bigger galaxy then any game out there can offer. That said like Ralphsims said it doesn't have a story. I describe it "your a small cog wheel in Big Mechanics of large galaxy" So that said yes a lot of grinding of space trucker, bounty hunting ,charter polite , explorer, and space miner. This is for anyone want to do exploring grab a fuel scope you'll will need it on long distance trips.

@@wavywatson4469 Well, it's definitely the version you wanna grab if you wanna experience the game fully. It features on the ground missions, which I will admit are not as polished maybe as they could be, but they offer a fun break from the usual ship to ship interactions you'll face most of the time, while providing decent rewards, at least in credits in my experience. You can also choose to "take a bus" to fly around between systems, so you'll be able to leave your ships in different ones and travel between them, or just meet up with a friend to grind some on the ground missions. It offers more options, but I am really not the best one to ask as I haven't played it much recently. But do try to grab it if it's on sale.

Elite Dangerous is an amazing game. Got over 1250h in it. I stopped playing a few months after Odyssey release but got some nice memories from my playing time. If you're looking for a space sim sandbox with a steep learning curve where you can do whatever you want and build your own story just get it. Never spent so many hours in a game before and I still can't find anything to beat the gaming experience that Elite Dangerous gave me!

Good, honest review. Refreshing. As far as gameplay goes, I wish for once, just one time a scientist would surprise me and plead for their life or something. I want dilemmas. As it is it's all mindless run and gun. If an NPC were to say, "I'm worth more to you alive than dead." That's a mission side trek I'd go down in a heartbeat. Hopefully I'd process it before shooting and getting a crime stat.

@@Thephysiquemechanic tbh star citizen is just a little better, but the game doesn’t run well and has many known issues. While this game actually offers most of the same gameplay mechanics (just without walking inside your ship) and this game just works. I actually have out a top 5 space games video on my channel also.

I picked this gem up when horizons was launched, spent multiple years learning as much as I could from the Guardians to the thargoids! Still causes heart to studder when aliens interdict :) community goals are a great place to meet people good or bad! I fully engineered a federal corvette a.k.a star ship destroyer and when u finally get to see a starship it demands the wow factor....so much to do and if your good at pointing yourself in direction, there are literally thousands of directions to go and try! I spent a full actual year collecting the unique weapons from characters in the power bubble. There is a story but you gotta dig in and found it all out...I switched my psn account to PC for odyssey! I own every ship that can be bought, completely engineering one out takes time and thought but is very rewarding

As of today I have over seven thousand hours playing elite dangerous. I play in solo mode and really enjoy being able to set a mining or trading goal at the beginning of my session and actually getting to work toward that goal and not worry about getting ganked by another player who's idea of fun is forcing players in non combat ships back to the hanger via the games death mechanic. I played Eve Online for about 13 years and that game you have to worry about getting ganked by another player every time you undock, because the npc police even in the highest security systems take about 50 seconds to show up and a 6 million credit destroyer with a three week old player can destroy your 150 million credit mining barge in about 30 seconds.

Man this game was fun when I started playing. After a while--not at any specific inflection point, just eventually--the grind becomes unbearable. Maybe this game keeps you interested for 30 hours, maybe 100, but there always comes a point where you'll set a goal and find out it will take ages. For me, I was trying to buy a fleet carrier. I earned 2 billion credits before admitting to myself I did not want to earn 3 billion more. I also wanted to explore far outside the Bubble, but even with the most powerful frame shift drives in the game I would be spending hours just hopping from star to star, all the while trying to keep hydrogen fuel in the tank. Ultimately, there are a ton of things to do in this game, and I recommend anyone playing to try as many as they can. You'll even make a ton of cash doing most of them. But the game demands too much of your time. Your pile of credits will look smaller and smaller the more you play, and the next milestone will always be farther away than you expect. That was what burned me out, at least. 130hrs played*

Exactly how I felt about the game too. But this game is still the best space sim. I kept coming back to it for my Space cowboy fix. The sense of loneliness in deep dark space helps me relax after a full day of work. Fly safe Commander! o7

I bought this game as I loved the original back in the 80's, only just started playing it so didn't realise you could actually land on planets and GET OUT!! as the original didn't have this 😂. It's certainly more complicated than the original but I love it just the same, so much to explore are so much freedom. Still getting used to the controls etc but I'm determined to master it. Great video by the way, I like your style! 🙏👍

Thank you. Yes they have some good exploration, you can explore every planet seamlessly too. It’s a bit of a learning curve to fly and get a feel for how gravity works around planets. I would watch some guides just in case.

Are the game's exploration, planet/ship walking, and combat features tied to the Odyssey Expansion? Does the player need the Odyssey Expansion to perform those actions/activities? How about the base game?

yes you will need the DLC to explore the planets. The base game offers the space exploration....an you cant walk around the ships. think of it as No Mans Sky , where you can only see the interior of the ship only. I hope that helps

Hi, concidering high tech and modernisation i much prefered ELITE on the Amiga 500 in the yr 1990s..the gimmick is the add ons to the original idea over time, devs killed the game by becoming greedy...evolution of humans becoming comoditys, how long before we read Human Comodity on the New York Stock Exchange😉, point is the game in the 1990s was all it needed to be😉 many thanks for sharing bro,rest easy👊

You know with eve online it was as easy as choosing the system in the overview and pressing j. Or going to the galaxy map, right clicking the chosen system, set destination and press j for every jump. You didn't need to have bigger warp engines to make longer jumps too. It's eve online but with more hoops to jump through just to move from one place to another.

​@@sadgoy. idk what your exactly doing wrong, but if you're still up for trying, check if your hardpoints (guns and anything you might shoot or mine with) are retracted. Bottom right corner theres a few check boxes that need to be clear for you to go supercruise or warp. You must also be able to warp to the said system, so if it is too far away you wont be able to do it. Also you need to select the system on the galaxy map or through the mission board menu for the alignment indicator to pop up with your target. Hope it helps

I left the game at around when they launched the fleet carrier update, and I thought about coming back for odyssey, and then, well, odyssey launched like crap, so I continued to push off my return. It’s nearly 2024, and I’m still not interested in coming back as my taste of games has now changed and I’m still not much of a fan with the direction of the game; I especially am not a fan of space legs. Maybe someday I’ll return back to the game, cause I did put like 400 hours into the game and got all of the big ships (not fleet carrier), some guardian stuff, and did quite a bit some engineering, so I would have something to comeback to, just not sure if I want to. Sorry if I’m just going on and on, for Elite Dangerous has just been in my head as of late.

I stopped few years ago, developers should never go first person shooter road and should only focus on space sim road. To this dated Frontier lost 23+ milion in revenue, and the population of Elite is declining each day, hard times awaits Elite Dangerous.

Yeah their player base has gone down quite a bit. Honestly that’s why I think Star Citizen is the best space game, but unfortunately Star Citizen gets quite buggy. Now their new update has been pretty stable, but as far Elite Dangerous goes I still like it a lot, even though it’s does get kinda boring after a long play through.

Good work on the vid. Some constructive feedback (if you want it), I would add music that's a bit more fantasy/sci fi oriented, instead of the pop-ish tune. Yes it does have all those in this game, but I wouldn’t label it an MMORPG…..think more multiplayer space sim. No real rpg…They have pvp (space and planetary combat) there’s missions that you can pick up from a terminal to do. Factions you can join.and many more. There is a little learning curve to this game, but once you get passed it, it’s fun. I highly suggest watching some KZbin tutorials.

Crash? On what platform? Other than when I initially installed Elite Dangerous Odyssey I've never seen the game crash, I play every week on Geforce Now and can't remember the last time the game crashed. There's always something to do in Elite Dangerous.

I'm pretty sure you can't play without internet since your player progress is all stored on the server and even when you're playing in solo or private modes you're still using data from the same servers as open. The main difference between open mode and solo is that you can't see or interact with other players and they can't see or interact with you. Private expands that to people in your group. You can see them, but nobody else can and none of you can see any other live players.

if theres one thing i wish for, its for Elite Dangerous to be offline, so i can just skip the grind with a cheat engine table or something, because my god its bad. Its worse than even the most grindy and oppressive Korean MMORPG's out there.

I would like to play that game sometimes.. Unfortunately, all available Ships, and i realy mean all of them, look extremely bad.

Yeah they do, I only like about 4 or 5 of them, and it doesn’t help that all the interiors except for some, all look the same.

I would say more content because of all the updates it’s gotten, and it’s a lot more simpler to play than this game….but Elite Dangerous is more space simulator and a lot more realistic than no man’s sky, but they both offer good gameplay

for MMO its not worth to get into. you might better off going EVE. for what space sim, again its not worth it, i would go with x4. for everything else in between, its good enough what it is, especially for the first 500h or so when u still trying to figuring out everything but once you do, its all downhill from there. despite of that ive spent for about 3-4k hrs with this game thru out the years before my passion for it burns out. so...

Congrats on the 3-4k hrs. I love EVE, but definitely something you really need to invest your time in. My favorite space game so far is Star Citizen even with the bugs, I think it’s one space game that just does it for me.

@@ralphsimsgaming oh stopped playing EVE and ED all together about year ago. i also have tried star citizen, its really buggy and just doesnt appeal to me as a space sim or MMO. im glad you like it tho.. ive been playing X4 and stellaris (tho steallaris is more of a x4 game than a space sim) alot lately. i gotta say in term of gameplay depth X4 is hands down best one out there. if you find ED or SC appealing, you should atleast take a look, you might get hooked too

@@Spitfire-zx7rj I love Stellaris. I’ve heard about X4 before, I’ll definitely have to check it out cause I’m a huge space fan…Star Citizen can definitely get buggy at times, but their latest update has been pretty stable.

Lack of real content, poor optimization, poor player base, unbelievable grind. That's the truth about ED, which doesn't look good, especially since we're in 2023. Don't waste your time on this scam game!

I really wouldn’t call this game a scam….now long grind and everything you mentioned would be really considered a personal opinion, but I value your opinions and I can see why you wouldn’t like the game. Not sure the last time you played, but I do know they added a lot into it.

The player base has shrunk to the point that to say this game has multiplayer is a weak joke. I think it's only a matter of time before the servers will be turned off, because after the "spectacular" premiere of Odyssey, when the players realized that they have legs and can run away from the dying game, the whole thing simply becomes unprofitable 🤣 After the fixes, unfortunately, the player base is still there very poor. Broken look of planets.. again stupid grind. In a word, the game had gigantic potential, and it became mindless pseudo entertainment in which the player has to waste hours of his time to get to a few minutes of real fun. ED is in my opinion the opposite of fun, a product not worth attention. Oh and calling this game a simulator is a total scam. End of story!
