Thinking it’s mental. I train hard. The wall hits and I’m done. I sit there and try to get fired up and it never comes. 65 here.

Great info from Dave as always! But I’m mostly here to beg for that shirt Dave has on to go on sale! …well not THAT actual shirt, but that style.

Only thing I can't get past is saying singles are safer for max efforts. I mean I know it's more specific, but aside from that, if you can't keep your technique clean for 8-10 reps, let alone 3-5 I would say you have no business going anywhere near a max effort unless it's super high reps, 20-30 with very light weight.

I would agree! Another problem I have, me personally with doing heavy singles at 95%-100% vs a 3×3 at 90% for example is there's no doubt the single is more taxing on the CNS and when people do singles especially following Westside they work up to that max single trying to break that record, that's obviously the most taxing and will cut into your recovery! Not saying max singles are bad or they might not be what a specific lifter needs at this given time, they might be what that lifter needs. Maxing out or damn close to it will help you learn how to grind which is something I see a lot of people can't do! For beginners heavy singles might be beneficial but than again they could be the worse thing for them because the beginner has not built any base! An advance lifter could benefit from heavy singles but the problem here is that because they can move a lot of weight(they are strong) it's going to be even more taxing on them! An advance lifters recovery will suffer more! It's understanding one's own body and what one is able to do and recover from
