Will this product require years of post launch development like the previous ones… fixing the water sealing issue and premature failures should be a priority for Brose….. leak detection and vibration monitoring would save future customers from catastrophic failures. The performance nrs are great marketing however they need to focus on durability.

I wish EMBN when introducing new ebikes, indicate if the battery is removable or not - this is a crucial bit of info many riders who live in seasonally frozen climates need to know, in order to bring only the battery indoors for recharging. That said, I'm set on smaller batteries 400-600 watt/hr is a sweet spot of not too bulky, yet enough for a few hours of riding, as I like a lighter front end for popping wheelies and lifting up the front for trail obstacles (heavier batteries make that ever so much more difficult and inconvenient)

That battery could probably have been a bit better integrated visually into the frame, but I don't fundamentaly have an issue with external batteries... they are super easy to take on and off the bike, and I don't think bikes should hide the fact they are emtbs.

I never considered how crank length affected motor cadence. For a motor like the the Bosch SX that likes a high cadence short cranks would be a great idea. Equally they could be a bad idea for older Yamaha motors that deliver their power best at a lower cadence.
@heywood1654 күн бұрын
The Rocky Mountain Powerplay is another emtb that benefits from short (155mm) cranks. I got some a few weeks ago and the motor spins at power perfectly. 80 to 95 rpm is a lot more comfortable now, previously with long cranks (170mm) my natural cadence was 65 to 75 rpm.

Regarding the Brose motors. Wouldn't it be good if I could change out my old 8-year-old Brose motor on my lovely Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo 6 Fattie, which has already been refurbished once, for a brand new? What if the battery mounting standards enabled swapping motors in/out of our e-bikes just like we upgrade forks, shocks, brakes, drive-trains etc.?

There is probably an argument that at some point you can have too much power. Reliability is a high priority for riders and manufacturers, and inevitably the more power you push through a mechanical system the bigger the challenge to keep it small and light whilst retaining reliability. There is also the argument of how much power does the average rider actually need? I would say arround 70Nm and above will satisfy most people. At a certain power output it becomes a challenge to control power delivery where tires break traction on slippy and loose ground and it becomes more suited to pro riders such as the Bosch race motor. Also the more powerful the motor the faster it will empty the battery. I assume that Brose presumably in collaboration with Specalized decided that the specs for this new motor were the sweet spot that would satisfy the most riders. Also it wouldn't surprise me if there is a software update further down the line as we have seen with both Bosch and Shimano, or a race tuned version for competition use.

@@andyarchitect the 60n/m Fauza equipped Transition Relay that I rode last weekend was more than enough power to winch up the gnarliest uphills Marquette South trails had to offer....more power can often be more of a hindrance (just ask anyone who has ever ridden a 450 MX bike)
@woidmoasta46736 күн бұрын
I have a bosch Cx Gen 4 also around 600watt. Thats more than enough Power. 1000watt is way overpowered i think and the problem is it would Destroy Battery Juice in short Time.

@@woidmoasta4673 No one is going to ride at 1000 watts, not even Bafang, the watts and Nm king operates at 1000 watts all the time but rather peaks at this range for extreme climbs. If you’re carrying an 800wh battery then all the power makes sense.

@andyarchitect Hi, I just wanted to make a point about your comment. I've actually got a Focus Sam2 2018 with the E8000 shimano motor, which you'll probably know is 70Nm. For myself, it's just not enough torque. I've also got a ktm Prowler with the bisch Gen 4 - 85Nm. I find that absolutely amazing, especially compared to the E8000. Having seen that the new brose is 95 Nm, that sounds 👌 our Emtb future certainly is bright I can't wait 😀
