The blind priest is played by an actual blind actor - which seems quite progressive for the time really. He also played a blind character in the sitcom "Friday Night Dinner".

Nobody ever seems to spot the small nun in the glasses is Pauline McLynn; they gave her this part since Mrs Doyle is almost not in the episode. Nor do many people catch the joke about the blind priest listening to the visual 'comedy' of Mr Bean.

"Ghosts" is a good series on CBS. Interestingly enough it is from the original British comedy. Also, the Jeff Bridges film mentioned is called "Fearless" and is actually quite good.
@adamcashin4021 Жыл бұрын
I was literally thinking the same thing about Ghosts (in that its the only American network show I've actually watched for years). But I still think the British version is better, and both versions are pretty 'safe'. It is though interesting to see the changes made between the British version and the original.

I've been on some pretty scary flights. But I'm still not worried. I'm not sure why people are so scared of flying. If they knew about the construction of a plane I could understand it. We've all seen them putting fuel on the wings. They like you believing the fuel is stored in the wings. Because the truth is so much worse... It's always been the landing where things have gone wrong for me. I've been on planes that have tried landing in a storm with huge cross winds. So, we'd just be a few meters off the runway and a huge gust of wind would almost blow us sideways or tilt us so the wing would hit the ground first and the skillful pilot just accelerated and got us back in the air for another go. It took 7 attempts before the pilot got us on the ground. I've been on a plane, again in a storm, and the pilot was so enthusiastic about getting us on the ground that we hit the runway too hard and the front landing gear gave way and we skidded along the runway on the planes nose. I've been in a similar situation, hitting the runway too hard, but the landing gear didn't break but most of the plastic panelling inside the plane came away, the lights fell out of the roof all the overhead baggage compartments flew open and luggage was falling out on peoples heads. One large lady suffered severe back injuries. And I'm really sorry for that lady but it took almost 2 hours to get her off the plane. And because of some law or rule, all injured passengers must be taken off first.. Like I said she wasn't a small lady and she needed a stretcher. As you can imagine that was not an easy puzzle to solve.

Fun fact, out of every single commercial jet crash where there was loss of life a parachute or inflatable life jacket would not have saved those who died. In fact they only put the inflatable life jackets on the planes because people are idiots. In a survey over 90% of people said they wanted a life jacket on a plane. That's the only reason they are there. If you managed to survive the huge impact of hitting the water at 500+mph, actually lets be fair and say 150mph, the minimum speed. Hitting the water at 150mph with nothing but a lap belt means you're probably going to be injured in a very bad way. Then freeing yourself from your seat, finding your life jacket, getting outside of the wreckage and into the sea is the easy part. You then have to some how keep alive for in freezing cold water with numerous injuries until a helicopter travels a couple of hundred miles and manages to see you floating about a vast expanse of water. Honestly, I'd prefer no life jacket. I don't want to die slowey bobbing about the freezing cold ocean with nothing but hope keeping me alive. I'd sooner just put my head under the water and take a massive in breath of water. While all of us think drowning is a scary way to die many people who have drowned and then be revived said that after the first few seconds of intense panic it was extremely peaceful and pain free.

Your comments about losing an engine reminds me of the joke. A plane flying across the Atlantic, the pilot comes over the tannoy, announces, Ladies and Gentlemen, we have lost power on one of the engines, our arrival into London will be delayed by 30.minutes. A while later the pilot announces we have lost another engine our arrival will be delayed by another 30 minutes. Later still the pilot comes on again, stating the plane is down to a single engine a 2 hour delay into London. One feller turns to another and says I hope that one doesn't fail otherwise we'll be up here all day.

Not sure about the 'don't do it' you both said. I'm assuming that it's a blind person listening to Mr Bean when it's mainly a visual comedy show. If some one could explain.
