We ate a lot of ramen when I was a kid. We would all eat ramen for dinner and my sisters, who are autistic, would slurp it up and then quote The Lion King but saying “slimy, yet satisfying.” So that’s what we called ramen. My mother would say “you want some slimy, yet satisfying for dinner.” 😅

Actually there seems to be a misconception about the spice level of these noodles. I think everyone just got over-hyped on the Samyang products and just assumed that any product released after the 2x would be 4x, but according to The Ramen Rater, Samyang officially stated that the scoville rating for the mala flavor is only 2700, which is just over 1/2 the rating of the original buldak bokkeummyeon, which rates at 4404.
@elizabethhussain63125 жыл бұрын
Correction it is 2700000 scoville units cause if it was 2700 scovile units it would be less spicer then a jalpenio

@getyapaper2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was a bit confused about this as well as their is no hint on the packaging that these ramen have a 4x spice level. Mala pepper is just a different kind of spice. It's often used in the Sichuan style of cooking. It's a different kind of burning sensation, it's more peppery and has a numbing sensation on the tongue. It's similar to fresh ginger in the regard that it's just a different kind of hot. Not hotter than a chili burn necessarily, just different.

I have a story time about Ramen Noodles. When I was younger I would say probably 5th grade young all I would ever eat was noodles so one day I came home from school and asked if I could fix some and after a "long" day of school I just wanted to sit in the living room and watch tv instead of sitting at the table, so I sat down started watching tv and I got back up to get me a drink. When I got back up as I was putting the noodles down they slip and get poured all over my legs of course at this point they were still boiling hot and I always kept the water in mine so its safe to say I got 3rd degree burns all over the tops of my thighs and ended up having to go to the hospital and was out of school for 3 weeks for physical therapy. Moral of the story is dont eat boiling noodles in the living room with no table! I couldnt eat noodles for about 7 or so years after that. I'm now 24 and still hardly touch the stuff except for every once in awhile.
