Bob Ross was an art JOKE - he was a hack! He was on a par with Paint by Number! (Seemed like a nice man for sure - but he convinced his viewers that what he produced was actually art and it was actually bad kitch!!) I would NEVER insult Emmy in that way. She's actually producing decent food.

I really like this idea, although I would make just a couple changes to be a little more accurate to the Elote I've always had. (I grew up on the border and my family is from Chihuahua) I would maybe use like half of the mayo that she used, and use another tbsp of butter. I also don't think I would use Monterrey Jack on it either I would just stick with more Cotija (The crumbly cheese she used at the end) I would put on WAAAAAY more Lime. Instead of Tajín, as much as I love it I would just use Cayenne pepper or some other Chile powder. (Unless you wanted to go full tex-mex and replace it with Crushed Takis or Hot cheetos). Either way this idea is SUUUUPER great.

The original recipe called for crema fresca which is a type of thick buttery sour (slightly) cream. Adding mayo was an American/California change since the fresca was more expensive than mayo. The taste difference is pretty huge and the crema fresca is superior once you add the parmesan cheese as the two blend their tastes well together. I would even put regular sour cream over mayo as it had the sour taste you're looking for that has to be caked on with the tajin. The corn was also roasted not boiled which really brings out the sweetness of the corn.

It really depends on whether you can handle anything spicier than a boiled dinner or not. XD I think her little bit of heat translates to medium hot for the average white American who was not raised on super spicy food, whereas my brother and I were raised eating Indian food and have and eat scorpion and naga ghost pepper hot sauce.

In northern Indiana by Gary & east Chicago, the only place you could get them was from the corn carts. They'd push em around town with their jingles. They'd sell fresh mangoes, chicharrones, & elotes. So good. And the palettas. I'm butchering these spellings but there they are.

Here in California, we have shops as well but mainly people like buying elotes from the people who sell em in their elote carts! Besides elotes, they also carry some snacks like spicy chips or even raspados (shaved ice with syrup)! I love all the goodies from those people honestly.

Ok, so, I'm going to try this but INSTEAD, I'm going to top it with chilacas and corn? Chilacas are chiles poblanos but instead of making rellenos, you cut them into strips and sautee them in sour cream, then add cheese. Corn, poblano chiles, sour cream/mayo, cheese, ramen. Sounds good.

Since then I've also cooked more & now I'm planning to buy a nice grill to cook with. Yeah the longer this lasts the more people get done or eat. Doesn't help that the stuff that lasts isn't necessarily all that good for you. Crap now I'm hungry again.

@OneWeekTime
@OneWeekTime 4 жыл бұрын
@@pr4208 @NAYA ROSIE you're body needs nutrition. Fasting can occur for spiritual reasons, which is understandable, but talk to a doctor before fasting. It can be dangerous, especially for women. E.g., hormone dysregulation. But on top of that, it can lead to fainting, nutrition deficiencies, etc. Drastic weight loss can stop your period. If it's just for weight loss, call it what it is. Its STARVATION. It's a yoyo diet. It is highly likely you will not keep the weight off because your body needs food. Weight loss needs to be a lifestyle change, and takes time. You cant maintain always fasting to keep your weight off, it leads to a scarcity mindset and eating disordered behaviours.

No it is prison noodles! You mix cup o noodles with anything else you can get (cheese spread, chicken, tuna, crackers, chips, etc) and make a meal from it. etc You look familiar btw! @@DeathBYDesign666 no way, elotes preparados and esquites are a delicious snack. Even though not very healthy you can see everyone eating them, it’s a cheap treat. But it’s not like you can put anything in it!! Also, there are different versions, you can find some more fancy than others. The one Emmy made is something you would buy in the street while walking with your friends:)

If you decide to make this or anything alike: use only helmans mayonnaise, other brands don't work that well, and don't add it as much as in video, I add on one ramen block about less than one tablespoon, the cheese adds a whole other level of flavor, but just ramen with mayonnaise works perfectly fine.
