@beldiman58704 жыл бұрын
Tell me about it. All these "social" events organized by the company are BS. Companies do not care about you as a person , you are just a tool, an employee number. By giving you a star sticker he was implying that your co-workers are not doing a good job, that's why they mocked you. This is the same when they are choosing an "employee of the month". It is meant to falsely create a feeling of achievement for the person that gets it and frustration for everyone else. It is not meant to promote teamwork but to create conflicts in the team, hence making it easier to control and fire people. If your boss was genuinely trying to be a good guy, he would give you a monetary reward on the next salary payslip without telling anyone.

I worked at Target for a seasonal position, and it was the WORST as far as the team-building and heavy-handed HR BULLSHIT.

Got my first entry job since graduating from college and during pay day my was salary deducted even though I was working 7.5 hrs a day. I really hate ticketing jobs where you ask tickets from your team to be able to logged some time and there has been a day where you could noy have any tickets

i joined a company.. now its about 1 yr there.. So the person who sat beside me has 2 tropies of employee of the quarter for some yr in the company. He served like 8-9 yrs with the company. Now these days.. we all have work from home due to corona ... So suddenly on last day of the month firing happened and that person got fired.. Thinking about the tropies on his desk makes it all ironical.
@beldiman58704 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, putting all those trophies on his desk is insulting for the other co-workers. Its like bragging about ones performance and showing everyone else that you are better than them , that their efforts do not count. So I guess HR tricked him by saying : If you indeed are so good that their efforts do not count than you can do their work as well , right? But wait a minute , if you are telling us that you cannot cope with the amount of work done by your colleagues, then you are not efficient enough, so we have to let you go....

I work in a assisted living care. It’s been tough with the pandemic etc.. lots of sickdays( not me), no temps, taking care of 35 elderly and sometimes just 5 workers , people with Alzheimers and other dementia. No visitors, trying to explain why nobody comes to see them, doing doubleshifts because no temps and people calling in sick. How did my employer appreciated us as employee.. They gave us chocolatebars. Thx for that👍🏻 made my day.
@beldiman58704 жыл бұрын
Well, I hope you are not diabetic and can at least eat the chocolate bars.

Reminds me of Hawaiian Shirt Day Fridays on Office Space. I’m gonna need you to come in on Sunday too. Yeah, such an embarrassment for the companies that do these ridiculous things. I always let my boss know to just give these trinkets to someone younger.

Money is not always what some people want. One big problem is how employees are taken for granted into unidirectional power relationship, and never asked or considered on what rewards would please them.

The problem with appreciation is based on the fact that we work these jobs not just for the money- they are people pleasing jobs where the victim Aka employee survives on praise and if the employer gives just the right amount of appreciation but not quite enough - then it’s a carrot on a stick that the employees continually chase, and managers are subconsciously trained to dangle this carrot so that no one ever feels fully appreciated so they are motivated to continue slaving away for ribbons and trophies. Validation, approval and appreciation are based on our innate human survival instinct- if we didn’t receive approval as infants, it was a matter of life and death, so we continue in this infantile way throughout life- still seeking the approval of a symbolic parent- aka a corporation and all the managers in it. That’s why they call it “family”- using that term is intentional, because it brings your mind back to all the traumas of the family of origin and upbringing and all the people pleasing you had to do to survive. And if you don’t fit into their circle of acceptance, you are out.
