Bob Picardo is such a good actor. Even his little cameo here makes me smile 20+ years later.

I love how the Borg started slow but the moment Picard ordered Deck 16 sealed off, they knew subtlety was done and attempted to take full control through the computer....once that failed they decided to do the next logical step: Take over a majority of the ship to contact the Borg in distant space ...After that failed: Full Assimilation of the Enterprise

Apart from writers not thinking... or not wanting to make it too easy for our heroes... I wonder if the Borg cutting main power is why the crew couldn't just replicate rifles or sabers to fight the Borg. Picard's (holodeck) Tommy Gun cuts through them like a hot knife through butter and Worf repeatedly uses bladed weapons with no sign of Borg shields adapting...
@D.M.S.8 ай бұрын
In Star Trek Elite Force (Videogame) they built some short of shotgun to fight them, which is kinda stupid when you really think about it. They have personal shielding and ship shields can stop projectile weapons, like rockets and so on. Why would their personal shields not stop bullets?
@1krani7 ай бұрын
@@D.M.S. They probably don't encounter many peojectile weapons, as such technology and cultures wouldn't be worth their time to assimilate. That or their personal shielding does little against kinetic energy compared to heat or electrical energy.
@robertkalinic3353 ай бұрын
It could be that standard borgs just dont have that kind of protection because everyone warp capable uses energy weapons, if they encounter projectile guns it would be simple matter of upgrading and replicating some kind of space material armor layer or even dedicated personal shield like navigational shields on space ships, for whatever reason they dont even care about less developed races except for rare exceptions. Borgs aren't exactly known to be resourceful with solutions if they encounter unexpected problems, they have less ship designs than you can count fingers on one hand. Its probably similar to being baffled about how moths can be so dumb to be confused by simple lamp and keep circling around it, if borgs didn't eliminate that kind of adaptive thinking they wouldn't be borgs in the first place.

And...that's why you don't put your sickbay on your engineering deck if you can help it.
@HelenLannister4 ай бұрын
On the other hand, engineering is likely the most dangerous part of the ship to work in, so it makes sense that the sickbay would be nearly.
@hisdudeness832823 күн бұрын
If you check the brief schematic of the enterprise, you’ll see that deck 16 is damn near the center of the ship. Makes sense that the area where you’d want your sickbay to be is in the most insulated and protected part of the ship.
