Your comment about diabetes and breast cancer hit home. I was diagnosed in January of 2018 with early stage breast cancer, and I realize now that I had to be at least strongly prediabetic if not fully diabetic at the time it showed up. Not ONE person involved in my medical care ever mentioned metabolic health and cancer-- I had to learn it all on my own and turn my own health around. I proudly showed my blood work to my oncologist with my fasting insulin of 3 and my rock-bottom inflammatory markers and all she could focus on was my somewhat elevated LDL. If it weren't for you and doctors like you on KZbin I have no idea where I would be. Thank you, Dr. Cywes.

But then again, I was so enamored with sugar that maybe they did say something and I only heard what I wanted to hear. The good news is that they didn't use the glucose in my IV. I am dong carnivore, he just switch to it from the stupid starvation diet the doctor put him on. He is doing fantastic now. We are both down about 40lbs. I think he is MUCH better prepared metabolically for the high risk surgery than he was in July. I suggested he call you for a review after watching this vid. Thank you Dr Cywes. You are saving lives and making the world a better place, probably way more than you know. Follow up: my buddy got thru his 8 hour surgery with flying colors! I strongly believe he did so well because he improved his metabolic health and gave his surgeons more to work with. I also believe he will heal better and experience the maximum benefit of the repairs to his spine.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. I discovered keto January 2018 and was just finishing my cancer treatment. I also found out I was pre-diabetic and had been treated for high blood pressure for several years and started searching for help, as I didn't want to take more medications. I immediately started keto February 2018 and was able to quit my blood pressure medication and no longer pre-diabetic. I lost 40 lbs! I felt so much better and have said since then that I was absolutely sure I would never have cancer again. I went to have my regular mammogram a couple of days ago and they found a new suspicious spot in my other breast. I am shocked. I will have a needle biopsy in a couple of days. If I have cancer again, I will have both of my breasts removed this time. I always eat keto/carnivore, but I will do the 48 hour fast before the surgery this time.

Yeah, it’s a tough one. I’m not sure what I’ll do when the time comes, but I like knowing I have more options than just going with what a doctor recommends who is going to gain financially by performing a surgery. If you read the book, the hypothetical couple in the intro are basically my folks. The side effects of the surgery that the book talks about, that he wasn’t warned about, took the life out of him. I’d rather have had him die of cancer then watch this once vibrant, joyful man spend the last 5 years of his life crushed, depressed and spiritless. Once again, I highly recommend that every man read this book just to know what’s really going on. Best wishes and prayers for your friend, I really, really hope he has a better experience than the thousands of men who may have been given a surgery that caused more harm than good.

Unfortunately the hardest place to be nutritionally is in the hospital. From the minute you are coming out of anesthesia, you are offered high carb foods - jello, juice, more juice, pancakes - it is hideous. Recently, I had emergency abdominal surgery. My appetite was nonexistent. I wanted high protein since that’s the building blocks of cellular repair. They had nothing to offer me. The liquid diet consisted of unsalted broth that sported 8 grams of carbs in an 8 oz serving. You’re guaranteed no sodium but high sugar. I asked for collagen to be added to the broth. They didn’t have any. We can do as much as we can before entering the hospital, but once we are there, we are at the mercy to an institute who consistently ignores nutrition and the very really threat of carb addiction.

Suppose you don't have a gall bladder. Wouldn't a Keto diet be difficult?
@mjones11224 жыл бұрын
Nope, you can do keto without a gall bladder. I have no gall bladder and no issues with keto. Not even the first few days.

When they give you fluids during surgery, does it contain dextrose? Can you get fluids that are sugar free?

Why fluids at all...
@robertcywes29664 жыл бұрын
