I'm so sick of being told I'm giving misinformation when I tell people that they don't have to drink 20 litres of water a day.. I hate water.. I drink it when I'm thirsty, not because someone on Facebook who thinks their opinion is important says I should .

I developed gout and kidney stones from chronic dehydration. I drank black coffee, did Keto, heavy work in a hot environment and was hardly ever thirsty. I could not keep the cramps at bay, even eating fairly high salt, until I started. drinking liters of water. Even on days I don’t work and am sedentrry, I seem to need lots of water.

In specialized situations, like “heavy work in a hot climate”, you need to replace the fluid lost through sweat and breathing. I doubt anyone would condemn you for that. A pro athlete is in a similar situation.

That's exactly what i did too, picture your on an island, with nothing, and they brought you a simple black coffee once a day. You would have a whole new appreciation for that simple coffee because the bar for satisfaction has been lowered. Its done by By training away your addictions, one at a time until your at simple food and water, then the smallest stimulant will feel like gold.

Far as I know It has next to zero calories, and it helps me stay hydrated throughout the day. Comes in great handy in the summer. I dont chug it , either. I drink till my body says it's not thirsty. I also drink regular water throughout the day as well

Sarah, do you have 1 meal that is a go to for you? I'm diabetic and my dr. Is not happy with my meals. Any suggestions?
@cherylh4688
@cherylh4688 3 жыл бұрын
@@janekelley2001 I'm not Sarah, obviously, lol, but just thought I would toss in my 2 cents. First, if you haven't already, I would read Dr. Jason Fung's book on diabetes. I think it's called "The Diabetes Code" or something like that. Then, if you are considering keto w veggies & have no serious inflammation like arthritis, I recommend the videos of Dr. Berg for "healthy keto" ideas, but he basically recommends 2 meals of mostly one large green salad (7-10 cups veggies) each day in addition to your various meats, seafood, poultry, dairy, &/or eggs and fats (tallow, butter, ghee, duck fat, bacon fat, olive oil, coconut oil & avocado oil). A typical break-fast for him might be a steak, ground beef, salmon or other meat + eggs + bacon & maybe some avocado. Then for dinner he would have another serving of meats or seafood + his huge salad There's also an online group called "Eat like a bear"' who eat only one meal a day consisting of one giant salad + a serving of animal protein. And Dr. Ewyes, also, altho' he & his wife & child, are carnivores who eat almost no plant foods except maybe a little avocado or olives, says that along w your meats & fats, you can add any non-starchy veggies, esp greens & broccoli, & in any quantity, both for obesity & carb addiction, as well as for diabetes. You just can't have any processed foods,fast foods, grains, rice, or potatoes (starchy veg) or anything else that triggers you to overeat. If you have any arthritis, auto-immune or other inflammatory issues, however, I would recommend you also read Dr. Gundry's "The Plant Paradox" for a list of plant foods to eliminate bcz of their "lectins." But transitioning to a carnivore diet might also be warranted in that case, at least until you have rebalanced your body & healed your gut. But bottom line, both the keto & carnivore diets have had great success w type 2 diabetes.& the carnivore diet has even had positive results recently w Typw1 diabetes. Hope that helps a little.

I've eaten a low carb diet for 30 years now and last year my blood work showed my sodium levels were low. When you eat a low carb diet most people need to increase their sodium intake and if your sodium is still low as mine was the doctor limited me to no more than 50ozs of water daily unless I'm working outside. It quickly returned my sodium levels to normal so be aware that more liquid than you need may create other issues.

Water is great especially if it tastes great, like pure spring water. The problem is almost no municipality is going to provide that. Do yourself a favor and visit their website to see what else is added to your tap water. In the meantime, I'm sticking with CORE water (there are a lot of similar products ..SmartWater, Fiji etc) Once I stopped drinking tap water, without stuff like fluoride added it was much easier to recognize the difference between hunger and thirst. As a carb addict, even small changes can make a huge difference.

It's hard to find, but diet tonic water is really good, not for the quinine although some like that, but rather because a can contains 250mg of potassium, and no other soft drink I know of has that. Yes, homemade bone broth is a staple in mine as well, and I even add garlic, ginger, apple cider vinegar & olive oil to a cup of it each night & sip it after eating my last meal as a nice way to close my eating window. And I really do not understand why it or any soup is harmful. Mary Ruddick cured herself on soups after being bedridden & deathly ill for over 12 years. PS: When I still drank I LOVED the sweet Riseling's from the Mosel in Germany. And, no wonder. OR the ICEWINE from where I lived in the Okanagan.

I’m so happy he said little bit cream is ok with coffee cause that’s what I fast on. Another thing I wonder if electrolyte water is ok to drink during fasting? There are different discussions out there. Thanks!

Dr. Cywes: please discuss the effects of a keto diet on kidneys, water and electrolytes. I've been on the keto lifestyle for 3 months. My A1C has come down from 6 to 5.6 and lipids are improved, but my GFR has come down from 59 to 52. i think it's mainly due to dehydration, as I wake up feeling very dry and also with leg muscle pains. What to do at this stage?

If you enjoy sipping it and it comforts you, I would say the same principle applies as coffee with crème as long as its not a super rich broth. I loathe coffee, just the smell bothers me, but I will sip a salty broth when I don't feel well or just can't get warm.

Topo Chico Water with a splash of Angastora Bitters works for me. Often add a lime, few carbs. Refreshing great flavor and enjoy as much as beer.

Come to think of it, I've never met a rat that died from Splenda, either. I am 100% positive of this fact. Nonetheless, thanks for the reassurance. Caveat? It's still a good idea not to go overboard on them, but the few drinks a day I have is better than the crap they'd have me drink instead.

You have some great ideas for obesity. Can you make a video on revision WLS surgical procedures? A surge in a large population going from 1 surgery gaining it back and now doing some version of the DS

Well, when people trying to adjust with IF, coffee with butter is not for hydration or emotional release. It is dealing with hunger without having a spike of insulin. And it tastes way better than a spoonful of butter alone.

wait keep carbs as low as you can close to zero but have wine but not bone broth? bone broth has collagen and other vitamins and minerals and no carbs unless you add them. getting a confusing message from the doctor
