Ep.2: How to Make Friends in Korea... 😬

Today we went to the Seoul History Museum. We absolutely love Korean food and I think it's the easiest medium with which to experience the culture, but getting to see and experience some of the history of Seoul and how the city as we know it was formed and has changed over the years is actually a really meaningful experience, and I would genuinely recommend it to anyone visiting or living in Seoul.
Korea's history is incredible and fascinating, with people even attempting to suppress or deny some truths, and it deserves to be remembered.
오늘은 서울 역사 박물관에 가봤어요. 물론 저희가 한국 음식을 너무 좋아하고, 음식은 문화를 경험하기에 제일 좋은 매개체라고 생각하지만, 저희가 아는 서울이 어떻게 만들어졌고 어떻게 변해왔는지 보는 것도 정말 의미있는 경험이었어요. 서울에 살고 계시거나 방문하시는 분들께 진심으로 추천드리고 싶어요.
한국 역사는 정말 대단하고 흥미로운데요, 진실을 억압하거나 부정하려는 시도들이 있었음에도 불구하고, 꼭 기억해야 할 부분이 많은 것 같아요.

Yeah, it just kinda rolls of the tongue. So instead of saying, 'do you want to take a picture?' and 'Do you want to die' are really close. So udie sagin chiggudlae, is for pictures, and want to die is, juggudlea. Something like that. Not really good at Korean, but that's how I recognize it.

This is exactly how anyone learns a new language. I learned Spanish at school, but what helped was all the Mexican, Peruvian, Puerto Rican, Nicaraguan, and other Latino kids were great about letting me practice with them. They let me make all the mistakes in the world, but they never laughed at me. It gave me the confidence, and that's the why and how of how Ollie's picked up Korean.

대한민국이 정말 좋은게 저런 양질의 박물관을 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있는 점이다 서울 역사 박물관 말고도 광화문 앞에 있는 대한민국 역사 박물관도 무료인데 수준이 어마 어마 하다 이정도 급 박물관이면 다른 나라에서는 적어도 1만원 정도의 입장료를 내고 들어가야하는데 .. 대한민국은 일정 정도의 문화는 누구나 쉽게 접할 수 있어야 한다는 헌법 이념에도 잘 부합되는 정책 같다
