EPIC 5 DAY TOYOTA MINITRUCK MAKEOVER!

This incredible paintjob happened in a portable spray booth during a custom paint demo by Tamco, called the Tamco Takeover. You may also recognize this truck from the "work from home" episode of Roadkill, when David Newbern and I installed a bunch of speed parts from LC Engineering. We swapped a ported cylinder head, bigger cam, and a new header onto the truck. Here's a link:

Very cool! My first "car" was a two year old '87 Nissan D21 Hardbody pickup that I got in December 1988 for my 16th birthday. I immediately cranked the torsion bars down, put 4" blocks on the rear axle and went cruising! I still love classic mini trucks, but my daily driver is a bagged '04 Chevy Crew cab dually. This video brings back memories!

That 85 I bought in 88,was amazing! Rolled it over first week, used bar and chain oil for the motor, missed shifts,crazy girls breaking all the glass out MANY TIMES! My friend had one and I wanted one so bad after driving his. The late 1980's on the Myrtle Beach strip in the summer with the music playing was such a great vibe. Great video. Reminds of my 86 toyota mini truck i bought new my Dad and i painted bright yellow. I put 76 dodge dart velour seats in it. Slammed itas far as torsion bars would go. Bought the plastic slotted lense covers. Rear lowering blocks. Tinted windows. I has so much fun with that truck.but i had to carry a hammer,hydruslic piston jack and Slip joint pliers because itd bottom out and drop the front endon ground ALOT. Mad respect for paint; would've been so easy to smash a base of black and lay out some expensive vinyl; but it sure wouldn't of been right. Textured paint, drop shadows, loads of other airbrush work; majestic layering. It's so damn period correct.

She's looking like a beauty! Loving the graphics and Ronal style. Reminds me of my red '87 back in '87. I had it lowered with some American Racing wheels, a bit of a booming system and that's it. Looking forward to it being finished and you all going to some mini-truckin' meet!

Ah, the memories from the early 90s! My buddy had a similar Toyota Mini! He had 4 15" subs in the bed, with some 10" behind the seats. I think that's where I got my tinnitus! We used to cruise around playing DJ Magic Mike, rattling that poor truck to pieces.
