thank you so kindly!! try knitting!! Crochet is easier in many ways and less messy when you make a mistake but it does use up more yarn and there is less variety for things like garments. I wish I could crochet better and perhaps I will one day!

Try reading them instead of listening. And don't watch the movie they made of the first book....it's dreadful! I think they will eat out of anyone's hands and in winter they are rather desperate!! In the summer raw sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are more likely to get their attention over regular bird feed. These are very used to people coming around on this path. they practically follow you around!! I saw the trailer for the movie and realized right away it would destroy my images of the characters for future books so I decided to not bother. It also got rather bad reviews!

I love your rananculus sweater (sp?). It seems smaller than the oversized recommended size in pictures on Ravelry. I like the way yours looks. I believe the sweater pattern is one size and and I’m wondering how or if you made yours smaller.

I did not make it smaller. In fact, I think it is bigger than my other. However, I think it is oversized in just the right way. It needs to be a bit cropped to look good. The mohair fills the gaps a bit so, while some use only fingering, this looks ligther in weight and more filled in perhaps?

Beware. I have found that not all needle sizes are the same. One brand of 5mm may be out by .2-.5mm and impact on the knitting gauge, especially with colourwork. I now use hubby's digital callipers to measure the diameter of the needles. The Asian brand of needles are not the same diameter as other brands.

I am finishing my first Ranunculus in a wool fingering with a mohair combo and want to make another one in a summer yarn . I was thinking linen or a blend. Do you have any suggestions ? This is only my third sweater so I don’t have much experience.

Lisbeth FarmarBowers it would be gorgeous in linen! Check out all the projects on Ravelry. You will see that people have made it in all kinds of yarns and combinations. I personally find it too loose with just a fingering but many have made it like that. Depending on how loose you want it you can also make it at a smaller gauge. Lots of possibilities!!

I love audio books but find them so expensive. Do you have good sources for buying audio books?

I have a subscription with Audible. It is expensive I find but I am reading more than one book per month so that makes it a bit cheaper. If I start listening to something and don't like it, I return it and get the credit back so I can choose something else. I have also been able to listen to a book or two through the public library in Ottawa that has an app so you can listen to them with that.

Little Big Knits thank you for your reply. I was hoping you had found a cheaper source than audible. I also use Overdrive from the library here in Kingston, but do you think the readers are as good? Perhaps they are the same I dont know the sources Overdrive uses. I am just curious. Knitting and listening to books go together so well. No pictures as in movies or tv shows to distract. Readers do make a tremendous difference I know.

I love the Inspector Gamache series!!! But I never listened with Adam Sims as the narrator. The Still Life I listened to here in the US was narrated by Robert Cosham. He is the BEST! Try to look for only the ones narrated by him! I think you would really like him. I listened all the way up to book 10. When she was writing book 11 Robert died 😭😭 😢 I loved his narrating he was like a comfortable old shoe. I never got over it and was so heart broken I couldn’t bare to listen to the new narrator she chose. He was awful and I stopped listening after that. I went and looked for Three Pines on the map 😄 (there isn’t one) and have always wanted to visit Montreal after listening to those books. I ❤️ them.

I really don’t love the actor that does the Louise Penny books. I will only read not listen from now on. I read “I know why the caged bird sings” when I was a child and I loved it
