The price is crazy, but dlc meaning every single additional content is a fairly new thing. Originally dlc was everything small, skins packs and stuff like that and everything bigger (new stories, maps and game modes) were expansion packs. Technically Expansion Packs are still dlcs, but no one had problems with this.

You could just play Stalker Anomaly mod. Even the old Stalker games except Clear Sky are still amazing but Anomaly add so much more and has all 3 games in one essentially and its a free download where you don't even need the base game. ​@@diablows1909 yes it is just be warned that mode doesn't allow you to play with all the content available. It also reduces the amount of gold and reputation you earn to 30% not to mention you can't get to pirate legend or use captained ships in safer seas.

@@diablows1909 The only differences I have found between safer seas and high seas is the gold payout is 1/4 of its normal price, reputation is reduced, and the fact that you can't bring your captained ship or guild into the mode. Everything else is available to play. The 'A pirates life' and 'monkey island' tales are all there, you can do any voyage of your choosing, and the world events are there for you to try out if you've never gotten the chance to because of pvp. But be forewarned, it really sucks to turn all that treasure into each individual emissary when you dock for the day. And fish caught can only be turned into the hunters call outposts, and not the sovereign. If you can get past the small stuff like the gold and rep, playing safer seas with friends is the way to go.

I know everyone's talking about the offline mode, but the real scam here feels like the 'Secure Container Gamma.' For those who don't play the game, the Secure Container is the only part of your inventory space that you DON'T lose when you die. The default edition container has 4 slots, while the Gamma container has 9. This is an INSANE advantage for most players, since it lets you guaranteed keep things you find, or bring stuff with you that there's no chance of you losing. The previous most-expensive version of the game ($140) used to include this container, and it's the main reason that players bought this game version. They REMOVED THIS VERSION of the game, meaning nobody could get the container, only to now lock the container behind a version costing $110 MORE. TL:DR They took the main draw of their previous most expensive version, locked it behind the $250 paywall, and made it so you can't get it any other way.

Remember when games used to sell the multiplayer mode and not the other way around? It doesn't cost them a thing for you to play the game offline, they are being 100% greedy. The funniest part is that its not even offline. Its actually a forced online mode. Its literally NOTHING that they developed for it. It literally just queues you into servers where only your party is allowed in. Still takes several minutes to get into a PVE match. AKA: Paying more money to just play the exact same game mode but with only your team on the server.

I bet the whole game mode is a low effort cash grab, and they realized "hey, if we sell this as DLC people are going to refund it" so instead they're tying it to this 250$ collectors edition where you can't get steam refunds for it and it's a digital code so likely no refunds at all. well after 150$ "complete" edition. the problem is of course that the game should be paid per month. but the live service model gets them more money upfront, but once you already have the money upfront it doesn't make sense to service the game because it's just money down the drain, so they come up with ideas on how to get more money.

It wasn't the horse armor that normalized this. It was the extreme backlash to loot boxes. "Gamerz" went so far with that backlash that they were willing to accept basically anything else, and now we have the modern gaming landscape. They fully accepted the other end of the extreme. Oh sure, there's hardly any "gambling" in games now, you see what you get, but in most games, you can't EARN ANYTHING anymore. Everything has to be paid for, even the most miniscule of things, and the prices are getting worse. Remember Call of Duty with the "Kong glove"? You have to buy four $20 bundles to get it. $80 for one piece of shit cosmetic thing. $20 for ANY "bundle" in any game is already ridiculously stupid, but no, spend $80 for our corporate crossover nonsense.
