If someone born in the 70s I still remember all of this. I love when people react because they're always in great shock.

I had forgotten who sang this song and I hadn't listened lyrics in so many years. At the time this song came out there was no internet so some people placed personal ads in the classified section of the local newspaper to meet other people. This song is about a relationship becoming so stagnent in day to day existence that the couple stops communicating to one another. Imagine finding an internet profile, minus a photo or name, that matches what you want in a person and when you meet you discover the profile belongs to the person you're currently in a relationship. So often we take one another for granted or just stop caring enough to keep learning the likes and dislikes of our significant other. The lesson of this song is to care enough to listen to your partner. If people put as much effort into keeping their current relationship exciting as they put into trying to meet someone new then perhaps more relationships would last.

I believe Rupert Holmes is younger than you think. Those big glasses and his preppy clothes make him look like a teacher. He is a clever singer and song writer.

How can so many people say they love this song and yet not know the singer/songwriter? Also, how do so many fans seem not to know the meaning of the song?

I just stumbled across your reaction to this song/video and couldn't watch past the 2 minute mark. You paused the song 5 TIMES within a 2 minute span. Really? I hope you don't still do that to this day, as it is REALLY annoying. Hopefully you've learned and figured out what the people want, and how to successfully react to things on KZbin. I'm always hoping to discover new channels to subscribe to, but will not be adding yours if this is how you do things. Good luck.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIOyep-ppcyCoK8 here's a link to the song. It's a reaction video not the actual song, nothing worse than watching a reaction video when the person actually has a reaction to it. But good luck on your quest for new channels.
@r.r.62052 жыл бұрын
I'm aware of what a reaction video is - I've watched literally hundreds of them from many various channels. Of course people watch them - myself included, to see the reactions, but only pausing 2 or 3 times throughout the entire reaction rather than every 5 or 10 seconds makes it much more pleasant to watch, in my opinion of course. Best wishes with your channel.

Can't believe you are more concerned about how the singer looks than the song itself. Just because you saw it in a film does not mean that's where it originated. From an article I read, Rupert Holmes (whom you seem so fascinated with) actually wrote the song to see if people paid attention to lyrics. Obviously you don't. You're more interested in their wardrobe for some reason and it's not like he was wearing any crazy costume. To stop the video that many times just to mention he wasn't what you were expecting...

You failed big time, because as usual you refuse to run it back a bit after you pause. Not to mention you talked over important bits. You missed a very important line because right on it and then mumbled when you started back up.
