On the last two Syracuse drives, their final TD drive and to run out the clock, Syracuse ran 19 plays and only ONE of them was on a 3rd down. 10 first down plays, 8 second down plays, 1 third down play. On the final drive that ran out the clock, Miami never even forced Syracuse into a third down, let alone a fourth down decision.

I have seen some players speaking somewhat animatedly on the sideline with the coaches and that’s a red flag. Players receive instructions on the sideline not argue heatedly. Cristobal has put together a wonderful talent but he’s not a championship caliber coach.

The fact that Mario Cristobal would kick the field goal when the touchdown was needed is beyond me. How in the world can you kick a field goal when you would still need a touchdown, regardless if you got the stop which was extremely unlikely. The only chance the defense would have had was if Syracuse had to be a bit more conservative in order to get away from their own endzone,(failed 4th down) or had to still finish off the drive with a fg because it's still a tied game with overtime looming. There was no pressure on them because they had both the lead and average starting field position.

Miami’s strength of schedule is no where near that and Miami doesn’t have any win CLOSE to beating Georgia. Maybe Bama doesn’t get in, maybe they do. But Bama has showed up against much more difficult teams. You can’t compare Miami to them. All that said, Bama’s loss to Oklahoma was gross and there’s definitely an argument to leave them out, but then who would you put in over Bama? South Carolina? The team with the same record as Bama, but Bama beat them H2H? No. Clemson? Nope. Garbage ACC schedule. Another team that has ZERO ranked wins and has lost their two ranked games: Georgia and South Carolina. Ole Miss? Maybe, but the committee has Bama one spot ahead of Ole Miss and they didn’t play a game this week and Bama won, so there’s no reason for Ole Miss to vault Bama. (Side Note: Indiana is horrible, but there’s no way to keep them out of the playoffs so that is what it is.) After those teams you’re going too far down the rankings. The only ways Bama doesn’t get into the playoffs right now are: 1.) TAMU beats Texas right now and then wins the SEC title game giving them an automatic bid in and essentially pushing Bama out by shifting all the playoff teams down one spot. 2.) Clemson beats SMU in the ACC title game which would force Clemson into the playoffs and SMU wouldn’t get punished for losing the title game so they would stay in, shifting the playoff teams down one and with Bama being the last team in they would be left out. Aside from either of those scenarios happening I see Bama in the playoffs

He’s a great recruiter, but he’s a horrible head coach. He was horrible as an offensive coordinator as well. His offense is predictable. Only reason why he did well at Oregon was because of Justin Herbert. He has a Heisman quality QB with Ward, and he still blows it. He wins on talent alone, and even then, it’s barely enough. He doesn’t develop, he doesn’t scheme well, and he certainly doesn’t make in game changes. He’s a terrific line coach at best and an amazing recruiter. Beyond that, he’s lost.

Funnily enough, I can see the CFP selection committee keeping Miami above Bama. They had 1-loss Miami above 2-loss Bama one week, then switched Bama above Miami the next. Great job by syracuse staying in there playing strong until the end good comeback better tackles by syracuse defense this time by tackling the legs and holding on instead of a bunch of missed tackles I also like syracuse offense going for it on 4 th down keeping the momentum going good aggressive play awesome job syracuse they made the right adjustments and executed those adjustments comming from a big deficit fantastic win.
