As added protection after you complete the install, I would recommend adding some silicone caulking between the wall and the electrical box to create a barrier from the weather 👍

Thanks for the videos. I need a flood light security camera like this one but I think I need 2 cameras do to the width of my building. The surveillance area is also a busy sidewalk with busy foot traffic- so I am wondering if in your opinion would 2 of these work in unison and would this type of 360 degree camera perhaps not be the best option. Thanks and any recommendations for a better solution, I need a Flood Light Security Camera System.

Hey Lifehacker. With all the tests that youve done.. which Eufy wireless camera has the best visual quality at night with or without spotlight option.

Have you checked if you can install this round base onto a single gang electrical box? I have an outdoor outlet exactly where the camera could go and wondering if I can replace the receptacle with this camera. But it's not a round jbox. Screws might line up.

So does the camera come with that plastic mounting plate? That’s the piece I need as I want to mount to the wall and wire it but I’d rather plug it in, inside my garage then wire it direct to to electrical panel. It’s so much easier.

Hello . Had this installed for a month . During the day it’s very very sensitive to every passing car even when I adjusted down sensitivity and set up activity zones . After dark it’s tracking and lights up when motion detected but doesn’t record anything . Can you please help ? I have a ticket to eufy and still waiting

Might be an ignorant question 😅 but if you strip the outlet side of the extension cord, how do you connect it to the plug? Do I need a second cable?

If I’m not mistaken I think he cut off the female end, then used the male end to plug into the wall socket. Otherwise, he would end up with the problem you mentioned 😆

I have used the wiring to set my up instead of the junction box, but during the daytime, it will only record when an activity happens, not 24/7 recording And i do pickup every activity in the day BUT at nights the camera will pick up little to no activity and i do live next to a busy street where cars passes every 3min to 5min, i did get a replacement but still having the same problem.

It is always stationary. You can program it to pan and tilt in a pattern or follow once it sees activity.

I want to run the wire from inside my garage plug on the ceiling. Can I run the 16 gauge wire through the whole in the center of the plug and connect the wires instead of removing the tabs and running down the side?

If you go the junction box route, does the switch inside of the home need to be in the on position permanently? If so, what happens if someone switches it to off?

Yes. When someone switches it off, then the camera and the lights will go offline but will reconnect whenever you turn it back on. To prevent this from happening, you can use switch guards.

I did it and it works. Ran the cable along the garage wall to a receptacle. Used a good quality 25 foot extension cord.

Yes, as long as the outer diameter is not too big for the hole in the camera base.

Wires are not externally exposed. A junction box has internal wires. If the camera is high enough, a threat actor can disconnect the wire.

It can be both without needing a separate mount. You do need to get the cable though (16-18AWG extension cord). I don’t think eufy sells them yet.

S340 cannot be set with amazon alexa if you have another Eufy E340 installed with amazon alexa. Eufy softwares are lousy.
