Mojitos are usually expensive not because of the muddling but how expensive it is to have mint as an ingredient. It goes bad fast and is pricey so you pay for that instead. As a bartender I know that there are a lot of drinks that take a lot of work but are freaking cheap because of the quality of ingredients being lower

That makes a lot of sense. Side note, I know a good amount of bartenders hate making mojitos more than any other drink, how do you feel when someone orders one? It is my favorite drink but now I kind of feel bad about ordering them.

@@totallybionic123 As someone who has worked as a bartender, you don't have to feel bad about ordering any cocktails, unless it's very close to closing time. The costumers that would order a caipirinha right as we were about to close the bar were the ones that would really annoy me, cause at that point we are already cleaning out everything and getting ready to leave. At those times, just order a beer or a soda.

It's interesting that mint is expensive (I live in California where we grow lots of produce) but it's very easy to grow. Almost invasive, sprouts like a weed and is fresh nearly all year. Can just explode into a huge plant even with hardly any tending. Maybe just keep a mint plant behind the bar 😅

I've worked in restaurants and once the mint starts to brown, it can no longer be used as a garnish because it looks bad, so there's a good amount of waste. I don't know how long it lasts once it's cut, but that's the one thing I can think of as to why it might be expensive as an ingredient. You can buy mint plants for a very low cost.

The same for caipirinha in Brazil. The spirits used to make it is "cachaça", from sugar cane and it was considered as a drink for poor people for two centuries, at least. Because of the caipirinha's success in foreign countries, this kind of spirits has got higher prices here.

It should be clamato, pickle juice, olive juice, tabasco sauce, pepperoncini pepper juice, Worcestershire, and a roasted pepper hot sauce like tabasco; garnished with fresh cracked black pepper, house-made peppered beef jerky, roasted cherry tomato, pepperoncini pepper, and gherkin. celery salt rim obviously, and build on tempered ice. If you are ever in Halifax come to Chives Bistro and I'll make you the best Caesar you've ever had.

Ceasers were invented as a hangover cure, I swear. I've never seen anyone order them on a night out, only first thing with breakfast. It's like Canada's extreme take on the "hair of the dog" thing. I looove the special guests in each ranking video, it's like the cherry that tops the video, it's so funny. Anyway I have lived in Spain and the concept of sangria here is oh so different. It's more like a "summery" wine that you get drunk on easily cause it's fresh and fruity and all you want to do is get away from the hot weather. I usually have seen it with a clear soda (kinda flavorless or only sugary), orange juice, and wine (usually a special one, I think it's a little bit too strong to drink alone), and then inside you put sliced peaches and oranges and lemons, and when you finish your drink the fruit is so tasty you can eat it for dessert. Of course there are different ways of doing it, and the one on the video was more a cocktail version of the sangria, which I think sounds very nice too.

A little tip of you want to try caipirinha at home but feel like cachaça (sugar cane rum) is way too sweet for your taste: try it with sake!! during my entire childhood i've seen my mom and my dad make theirs with either sake, cachaça or both, so you won't lose the authenticity of the drink by having it with sake. also, you can try it with mixed berries, it's AMAZING!
