I'm going to law school this fall. I'm very excited (and extremely nervous), and I'm currently in full-on research and planning mode, trying to be as prepared as possible for student life (if anyone has any recommendations for a good laptop, that would be appreciated). So it's an appreciated coincidence that you are uploading this series right now. I have been watching you for about a year now, and your videos have been helpful and inspiring. It makes me feel a bit better going into my future now that I somewhat have an idea of what the world of law looks like. I really admire the editing style you use. Definitely recommend a gimbal (possibly a Ronin-S/S.C depending on your camera and budget. Potentially use a different lens too, as this style and focal length works great for the occasional bit of b-roll but not the entire video. Totally appreciate the effort that goes into these videos, keep it up!

Honestly, thank you for doing this series. As a law student going to careers events, I always found it daunting to speak to some of the lawyers, and unfortunately, had some bad experiences where some of the lawyers did not seem friendly at all. It was almost like there was such a gap/bridge between us students and the lawyers but this series really helps create an entirely different perception and does make law seem accessible and welcoming, especially at a magic circle firm like Linklaters. So, thank you.

Guys if you apply for events like these or insight events sometimes it gets booked out and there are no more spaces. Just turn up because not all registered attendees turn up and they let you take their spot. Me and a friend whilst we were at KCL were too late to sign up to a trading insight day at citi bank so we turned up and sweet talked the staff who sat us down in reception and let us in if other didn't turn up. Hope that helps.

It's so interesting to me that in the UK you can be 22 and already done with a law degree. I'm considering law school in the US but I would have to accept that more school may just eat up the rest of my 20s

Pretty cool Eve's got some american viewers. How long does it take to qualify in the US? Here in the UK the shortest possible amount of time it takes to become a solicitor is around 6 years and for barristers around 5 years. Sorry for the late reply! How goes your career plans?

@@GudetamaSit technically 7 years, because in the US you can't major in law as an undergrad. Some universities have pre-law programs but many, including mine don't. So students who want to become lawyers often major in history, political science, English etc. Then you have to take the LSAT, thr big test to get into law school, and then law school itself is three years. And THEN you have to pass the bar exam, which takes a while as well and half of law grads fail. So it's a long process. And well I'm still and undecided mess and thr pandemic didn't help lol. My roommate is thinking about taking the LSAT so I might take it with her and see how well I do. Or I might apply to grad school for a creative writing masters, which is a VERY different career path lol
