@Grant Francis Yes, but it's good that Steve had the knowledge of the US history of that term as well, so AS AN INVESTOR he can make a good investment and make more money if he were to bring it into the US market, and not get absolutely screwed.... so, respectfully, while I agree that not everything revolves around the US, I don't agree that you should just have companies with potentially offensive names and bring them into a huge marketplace, and Steve clearly knew that.
@salvagemonster36123 жыл бұрын
It is because she had a narrow understanding and world view. For example when I lived in Africa for 2 years the N word wasn’t a slur to them. The locals believed that was a term for only black Americans. Just because you found it offensive doesn’t mean that 99 percent of people outside of your home finds it so. So in a sense you showed just as much narrow minded view of the world as she did. People have to stop looking to be a Victim about everything. Being a Professional Offended Person is not a full time job. Well for most people it isn’t

see the problem with white leftists? The Aboriginal people themselves take no insult but the white boy was uncomfortable with the name (3rd product in the video). It's like they think they have to be offended FOR us, and that's something that was never asked of them! (not Aboriginal here but of another ethnic background and the issue relates)
@ivoryinkwell78643 жыл бұрын
He's not being offended for the Aboriginal people. He is being considerate of African Americans and thinking of a GLOBAL market where the word in other countries carries a negative connotation, dark history and use and thus would have a negative impact and endanger on the bottom line and even the potential of the concept of going global. It isn't being offended, it is being aware of things going on outside your backyard and making a smart business decision based around all the information available. I may be a white girl from the East Coast of the US, but more than a few of my friends of various ethnic backgrounds with origins from Africa would be PISSED. I used the word once not fully knowing the connotation, just thought it sounded cute, never used it again. One of their grandmothers got the shit beat of her on her way home from school and that was one of the slurs that was shouted at her while they kicked while she was down... That being said, there is nothing wrong with being aware of how things may be received on a global scale. What is a word used in one culture casually could be horrific in another. If you are in a business, you need to be conscious of. That's all it is.
