When I first saw that scene I was 17 yrs old and I loved the prequels. Even back then it was weird af and didn't really work for me. The performance wasn't that great, the make-up was weird and I still don't understand why the emperor didn't have guards. In the prequels the emperor should have had jedis as his personal bodyguards. These guys would be the ones to turn on him, as they find out that he is a force user and able to suppress their detection of force users. The whole Mace Windu execution crap didn't make sense. It just made the jedi look stupid and Anakin like a bitch.
