I also made the same mistake ordering a v2 Flex io for my G4, had to get the v1. At least the v2 won't go to waste because, eventually, I want to buy a used G6 or better and that v2 will come in handy. Great video. Should help others who are not sure what they need to buy for their pc.

Exactly why I wanted to get it out there. Save others from the same mistake and hours of frustration trying to get it to fit. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I believe the reason for the 65W machines inability to use USB PD, are power limitations. PD can deliver a lot of watts. So a 65W doing high CPU work is drawing a lot of watts by itself. The PSU bricks or even the onboard power delivery systems may not be able to handle the load of a heavy CPU draw AND sending 60W to the USB port. It could be an Amps issue rather that raw Watts too.

I like the theory of the 90w PSU. Still odd to have two different flavors of mobos. Although for other companies it would make sense.

@@handmedowntech Just my theory. The PD USB by itself looks to be using almost a third of the available amps from the PSU. As most normal Bricks are in the 6-8 amp range. I “think” I saw a USB C powered monitor, designed for the Elitedesks at some point. All monitor power is from the DM. I wonder if it was meant to go with the PD machines. As the DM fixed to the back of the monitor. If I find the info again. I will post it here.

HP Mini-in-One Display. The Mini fits inside the monitor. The monitor powers the Mini via USB-C. HP's page links are mostly down atm. So, here is a YT vid showing the monitor and Mini being installed in it kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmGlk2VqeMaqjdk Edit Part numbers 7AX23A8 and 7AX23A9

@@handmedowntech Another question springs to mind now. As shown in the vid i posted. Can a PD equipped Elitedesk now be powerd by one of the high wattage GaN chargers that are all over the place now. As I do not have a G4, I cannot try this out. You could, if you have this sort of charger. Another video perhaps, if you do try this out. My GaN charger has two 100w USB-C ports. So it "could" be possible to power two G4s from a single charger. It would depend on how the charger splits the power between the ports, when both are connected.

@2:11 So it should pop, and it should snap in... but I assume if it crackles then we've got problems 😁

thank you! very useful👍 I have G3 with two HDMI and I'm thinking about changing optional port to HDMI as well (to use three monitors - if it is possible?)

Would you happen to have a post or video showing the plugs on the bottoms of these boards? I have a G5 with a v1 vga io card, and when I popped it out to see what was underneath, I found an unused socket labeled tbt/fiber. I haven't been able to find out if there's an option thunderbolt yet or not as HP's documentation is confusing and differs in places.
@handmedowntech2 ай бұрын
I had never noticed that before - my G4 says "TBTcard" on the motherboard. The Thunderbolt youre' looking for is Part Number 3TK77AA HP Thunderbolt 3.0 Port Flex IO. Check out h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c06042607 - Let me know if you end up getting one and how it worked out.

Hello HMDT, I have a question for you, I recently got a G4 35W, installed the USB-C (not the power delivery one) IO module, and noticed that the unit comes with 2 different connectors. The VGA module as well as the USB-C module only uses the connector closest to the back, but I'm not sure what the other connector is for, do you happen to know?
@handmedowntech4 ай бұрын
If you're talking about a black connector parallel to the back of the unit, I suspect it is used with the longer thunderbolt and fiber cards. Tried to find a pic of the underside of one of those Flex Ii but didn't find any. If you do, let me know

Hi this is Dan… I just recently bought a HP Elitedesk 800 G4. I want to install a Flex I/O HDMI adapter. I ordered one on Ebay. P/N I believe is L07093. I can not get video out of it. When I hook up HDMI cable it states on Monitor NO Signal. Questions: Do I have the wrong part? Do I need to purchase a STK74AA one? Do I need to download HP Graphic update…? As you can tell I am new to the equipment. Thanks for any help you can provide. Dan

In the flexio info page it lists 3TK74AA as the part number. I did a search on eBay and google for L07093-001 and it turns up several units that look like the one I have. Check out www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/new-hp-914969-013-906318-002-l07093-001-3tk74aa-3tk74at-l25757-002-sff-hdmi-port-small-board-906318-002/17209444 and make sure yours looks like this = it does need to have that "inlet" at the back. I mistakenly bought an HDMI for a G6 and it almost fits but doesn't - in my video I show the V2 option boards. Now assuming that you have the right card make sure it had a bit of a snap/pop as it connected to the connector on the board - otherwise it won't have a good connection. You can experiment putting back your original card to make sure you're getting it in there. Also make sure your monitor is set to HDMI and then connect the cable and then turn on the unit. That way the G4 knows which video signal it should send out.

Necesita la pieza 834949-001, pero a veces es más económico comprar una que ya esté acoplada a un carrito. Consulte kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKjHiJR6jNVoidk
